The impression I get is there is a VM team working on certain things over here and the TiVo team themselves are in the states.
The next phase of TiVo will probably be underway and testing soon so it would make more sense to add in the pq fix to that software rather than try to get it done first and release it, as that could have an effect on what they might already be working on.

Actually, IIRC Tivo haven't had any significant presense over here in years I'm not even sure they have any offices at all now.

Possibly but as far as I know, all coding is done by Tivo and that's over in the US.

TiVo do have a small UK team, but most of the coding is done in the US. Cisco also provide a significant amount of software.
However, it's the testing that takes most of the time, not the coding.

You say that like it's something unusual. Any software development and testing takes a long time. To do otherwise would be foolish.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
As this product is new to virgin there is bound to be major bugs and issues with customers, which will be worked on straight away, come a years time most issues will probably have been sorted and only minor issues will be the problem, in most cases its better the public raise the issues as they are the ones that create the real time scenarios.

Yes I agree with that , just look at Sky's software since Anytime+ its took time to develop and get right , and there are still some with problems yet.

Plus, no matter how rigorously tested a piece of software is, you can guarantee that as soon as it's released into the wild someone will find a way to break it that hadn't been foreseen.

Got the installers here now as I speak, 2 of them turned up to do it. Just on the initial screens so hopefully all will be up and running soon.

The Sky+ box is a good example of that.
Still waiting for a bug free update.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Been up and running for about an hour and from what I can tell, all guide data has been downloaded and it's all working well. Loving it so far. The best feature for me is the Search all TV - much better than going through the guide to set series links. And the adding time to the start and end is not as long winded as people have made out.
