Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. II.

I like having 3D capability and will look forward to using it for the 3D tennis on Eurosport.

But it is not a feature to permanently use as HD is. It is an option to use when you want and it is nice now and again to watch a 3D film say.

Having a 3D TV is also useful for 3D games on my PS3, myself and my son have really enjoyed Motorstorm Apocalypse 3D as an example.

They said the same about HD and Blu Ray

Also my 3D TV wasn't too expensive. Besides it's not like you sit watching 3D all the time. It's a nice extra feature to have though.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. II.

3D TVs are gettng cheaper and give it a year I would say will be standard in any decent quality TV. Whether you decide to use it is up to you of course, it is just a feature option.

I think you're right on that one. 3D probably won't interest me until it's viewable without glasses, but soon, no one will buy a good quality TV if it isn't 3D, just in case it does take off. And, the TV's with the best PQ will be the upper range models and those will be 3D TVs anyway.

My lounge and bedroom Tv's will last me a few more years yet, but if I was buying now, for the lounge, I'd certainly consider 3D; just in case it takes off and content becomes more available.

Which I don't think can be classed as mainstream yet. When the majority of programmes are broadcast in native HD, in particular on the the 5 terrestrial channels, then I would consider HD to be mainstream.

Blu-ray was hampered by the format war, and not being anywhere near final profile when it came to market (A clear sign you should release a working product and not one that you hope will work).. but except for big movie productions most people are finding that blu-ray players and newer dvd players do a really good job of upscaling dvd's (which of course are cheaper, easier to pirate, easier to swap, work in the bedroom etc).

Ive touched on this before, but untill my Mrs (and probably loads of other Mrs's out there) are deprived of the option to watch SD when the channel is available to them in HD it will not become the norm.

Is there a different calendar in England?

In Scotland, we have 12 months in a year and May is only the fifth month so there are 7 months and 14 days to go until the end of the year.
