I agree I've been considering getting one , I've narrowed it down to an LG passive model

Even if I could afford one I wouldn't get one, at least not until they release them without the need to wear glasses.

Lucky you but do you think that 3D will become mainstream because at the moment l have my doubts due to the price of the tv,s and also the lack of 3D content.

Most ordinary people can't afford 40+" LCD TVs and the full Sky Sports and Movies package, but that doesn't stop them.....

I got this one,

it's last years model but is now Â£699 for 46" and it's not led but that doesn't really matter. The pq on it is amazing. Also as freeview hd and Samsung smart tv features. Retails for double that on some stores still. Active glasses still are expensive but the passive sets are also really costly as they are newer so I think the costs would be about the same.

So I welcome the 3D content starting to appear.

no it does not stop them but l would say thats why a considerable amount of people are in debt and they seem to forget that you have to pay it off with interest and l am glad to say that l have no debt.

It may do eventually but even HD uptake is still not exactly main stream yet. It's taken large screen TVs a w years to drop in price and it will be the same for 3D. Content will come as more stuff is shot in 3D.

Nice price , my only reason for looking at passive is I find the active glasses can give me a headache. It's good news more 3D content is on the way for VM subscribers.

Once more, we are in agreement - the only debt I have is our mortgage, and that gets paid off in September this year.

The vast majority of the public will as you say take years to adapt to new stuff.

There is still a considerable percentage who have not got a HDTV set and even if they have some will not have got it working to its full potential yet.

I've been fine so far but only use the glasses a few hours a week just now.

It is good news and I was surprised at how much 3D VOD content there actually is now.

My friend and his partner have just finished paying off their mortgage and they totally relieved that they do not have to find that income anymore.

That is our thought as well.

First year after payment, using what were the mortgage payments to save up for my daughter's wedding in June 2012 (with the remainder of our savings), and then after that, using what were the mortgage payments to save up a nest-egg for our retirement 10 years later.
