The TiVo is more sensitive to signal levels apparently so it could still be that.

Re: TiVo Picture Quality

Hi, Picture Looks just as good, on my Samsun 46" as it did with the SA V+.
In both HD and SD, after a couple of tweeks to the settings.(brightness and colour)
Overall I'm very pleased with the TIVO

Re: TiVo Picture Quality

BTW, did you know that pressing up arrow while watching a TV show switches the HDMI output resolution?

I assume if you put 520i and 1080i as your only choices in the Video Output settings, then you could easily switch between the two for SD and HD.

Does anyone know what the signal levels should actually be, i.e. what is the expected or accepted level?

No your statement is the most ridiculous!!

I was one of the first Samsung V+ boxes installed and as soon as the tech connected it and switched it on you could instantly see the picture was a lot sharper and also the Menus looked great at 1080i

Heh, a bit harsh. I agree with Stephen, Samsung PQ was better than the SA and NTL boxes I had before. TiVo worse.

Glad you agree about the Samsung :-) However I find TiVo to have just as good PQ.

This only works for playing recorded shows, not live shows. Which is a bit odd.

Interesting post on VM TiVo forum showing close up of comparison between TiVo and V+.

Need mores comparison shots to be conclusive, but it's a start to identifying why some people have issues and some not.

Yes good post, somebody with TV with Tivo and V+ both attached so can directly compare PQ.

Re: TiVo Picture Quality

From those pictures it looks like some sort of de-interlacing error.

Re: TiVo Picture Quality

Sorry too technical to me, is that a signal feed issue or a software in the box issue if that is the cause of course!

Just tried that on my 40" Samsung at 1080i and have that problem but only with that channel, text actually looks better (and always like that V+ shot) on my TiVo at 1080i as at 720p on that channel it flickers like mad.
