Surely signal level problems would cause pixellation not softening of the picture

Not sure of this I know when they installed my TiVo they checked all the connections, BB included and all the signal levels.

So who knows what is going on?

Re: TiVo Picture Quality

I've just had my TIVO installed this afternoon having had an SA V+. The picture quality is awful. The football on ITV SD news this evening looked like a low quality internet stream, it was virtually unwatchable. The HD is very hit and miss. Some HD channels are not too bad, others look like SD. I can't get over how much better the picture quality was on the SA V+.

I only upgraded for the 1TB so we could switch our series links to HD!

Re: TiVo Picture Quality

Could PQ also be down to TV type as I have a 42" plasma and find the PQ better on Tivo (both SD & HD), just wondering if people with poor PQ have Lcd`s or Led`s or Plasma would be good to know

Re: TiVo Picture Quality

Samsung LCD 32" about 3 years old. Pixelation on the football on ITV news was the worst I've ever seen. I just assumed upscaling would have improved since the V+ not got worse!

Re: TiVo Picture Quality

With the PQ it seems like it is hit and miss with the boxes As I do not notice as I had my V-HD box changed for the TiVo?

I could be wrong but that doesn't sound the same issue as some people are reporting. They seem to describe the picture as soft rather than badly pixelated.

I had a Toshiba 37" and TiVo looked great on it. Now using a 46" Samsung 3D LCD and it looks even better.

Some SD channels look poor but they also look poor on my Samsung V+.

I'd say it was blurry. Soft is understating it. I'm trying to watch Never Mind the Buzzcocks on BBC2 at the moment but it looks more like poor quality YouTube than real TV.

I'll give it a few days. The TIVO functionality is fantastic so I'm going to give it a chance.

Re: TiVo Picture Quality

It seems to be any SD, even SD broadcast on an HD channel that looks bad. The bottom line for me is that the SA V+ did a much better job with SD than Tivo does. Unfortunately it also did a better job of HD though not by as wide a margin as SD.

I'll see if I get used to it, and I'll fiddle with the TV settings in the meantime ...
