lots of pixillation on screen

Afternoon folks, V+ Box, full xxl package with hd movies etc. All weekend (Edinburgh area) every channel was blocky and pixillated and breaking up (if you know what I mean) is this a) my sa v+ box, or b) rubbish service? Really spoiled my sports viewing and films over the weekend. Also, my V+ box keeps telling me I am running out of space. "critical". I deleted a few HD films etc and that freed up over 40hrs of space, but it keeps coming up with the running out of space message. I re-formatted the box a couple of weeks ago as we had a couple of corrupt recordings that would not go away.
Any advice??
Cheers

Re: lots of pixillation on screen

How old is the box. Mine started this at around 4 years old - couldn't handle recording and playing back at same time, pixelated differently on different tuners. They looked at the info and said two of the tuners in the box (SA) were 'red' so not in good shape. Engineer came out and didn't even bother to look at it, just saw the install date and brought in the replacement box (Samsung).

My other V+ was about 6 months 'younger' and was fine. So seems to be around 4 years they can start packing it in. I've read other posts where it does the same around the same age esp with a heavy HD load (cannot record one HD programme while watching the other or it becomes unwatchable and needs reboot).

If you're not looking at replacing with a TiVo soon then I'd ask for a replacement V+ as from my personal experience it's not going to get any better.

Its about 2 1/2 to 3 years old. (and been through a fire in the living room!).
Might just give them a phone and have a moan.

There was a national fault that affected Sky Sports at the weekend. However, it does also sound like your hard drive is dying. I would suggest reformatting but you've already done that. So give VM a call.

Re: lots of pixillation on screen

Having the same problem in the Edinburgh area, its effecting the V+hd box but to varying degrees depending on channel.
Its been like it since the network went down one morning last week for a few hours.
I wondered if it may have been effected by my adding a 5M extension to move the box to the next room. But that had worked fine for a week before the area outage.

There has also been very slight pixilation on a couple of channels on the Tivo.

Re: lots of pixillation on screen

Hmm... wonder if there's a general Edinburgh problem. Is there a DF in the house?

Re: lots of pixillation on screen

Another thing that i have noticed on the V+hd box is the blue on-line light is
flashing on and off.
Not sure of the significance of this.
