yeah I expect there wont be any PR on it, simply put there will one day probably be a superhub that looks the same but internally will be different and probably different (advanced) GUI as new vendor.

Re: Superhub is nowhere near as bad as people say!

Indeed. Very little point indeed in having PR over it beyond trade publications announcing the deal.

Netgear have embarrassed VM, even if there are relatively few issues there have been enough to catch press attention.

This may have changed recently as both had this feature in production so it makes sense for them to get it certified for the CableLabs kudos.
Does that mean upstream will be moving from DOCSIS 2 to 3?

I just dont understand virgin, they binned netgears crappy router that came with the 50meg, why go back. The only good thing netgear done was that wireless g router that was white.

NO, they are there for a purpose, they don't want users to go into advanced settings. That's why it's written so small!

I expect £££.

netgear probably did the cheapest quote.

Most likely, however it still gets back to testing of the product. I cannot for the life of me see how VM could possibly have tested it thoroughly before release and then find the problems that have arisen. It would appear to me to be that it was just rushed out.

Perhaps their testing methods are fatally flawed?

I was a tester and reported problems on a daily basis, still to this day (6 months and 3 superhubs later) my wifi drops

So you got your 1st superhub in the same month as it went on general release?

Some testing that is!

Mind you as they release firmware upgrades within days of being put to the customer based testers I'm not surprised!

Re: Superhub is nowhere near as bad as people say!

I Don't know how Netgear forked up the firmware so badly... The ambit uses a Broadcom chipset for its Cable tuner as does the Netgear.. so somethings obviously dodgy however it doesnt surprise me..

The DG834GT was crap until custom firmware was released for it..

I don't think you're wrong there.

The Netgear DG834G (ADSL) and WGR614 (Cable) were pretty reliable products (although the original firmware was a bit dodgy!).

Since getting Cable Broadband 10 years ago, we've had 5 routers and the Superhub has been the least reliable of them all (in less than two months).
