Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
As I said for some reason I never got a new contract, Im quite a "techy" person and can see how all you guys swear by Tivo, it is a great new product, but as of at the moment, its alittle overwhelming. I've turned off suggesttions and deleted as I watched and its helped with the speed issuses. But its just not doing what I want it to do for me and my family, it seems alittle over complicated sometimes. I just wonder how Mr. Average will see Tivo when Virgin switch over to it.
As Tivo is now, and I know its gonna get much better, its not worth the money paid and the extra fee a month. It should be flawless for the prices charged.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
The V+ cost a similar sum and had £10 per month fee when it first came out and that was anything but perfect. As with all new tech you have to get used to doing things differently. If it not for you fair enough but the current V+ has a limited lifespan left.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
its like anything new in that its takes people a while to get used to things and like any new product it will have a few teething problems as well.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
The problem is you can pick up a v+ after install and the customer within 10 mins has it sussed. The TiVo is too complicated for technophobes. TiVo is right up my street because I like discovering features and playing around with gadgets, but I can't see my gran working it.

Aaaarrgghh! Woke up this morning to find no Broadband and no TV! Service Status says Tv service disrupted but BB "Good Service". I might have to do something drastic like (gulp) clean the house, or (OMG!) mow the lawn.....

It may be a bit more complicated if you use all of it's features, that is inevitable. As far as I can see though if you just want to use it as a pvr it isn't. My wife is a complete technophobe and we are both getting on a bit but she had no trouble using it in less than 10 mins.
You can even use the old V+ remote to operate it.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
I suppose your right, maybe im confusing customers with all the features. I think if vm bring back one touch record 'just press the rec button for once only" this would make a big improvement.

I seem to recall that, on the V+ it was yellow to record a season then L or R to select between "this ep", "all" and "choose". How was that less complicated?
Now it's one for 'record this' and one for either one-off or whole season. Isn't that easier?

Take some time out to reflect, go outside and smell the grass after the rain, then rush back in and check if your services are back to normal!

...but you only have to press rec and then ok to confirm "record this showing" - not difficult.

Wow!
Yes of course the TiVo has it's own BB feed. I cannot remember if the V+ worked if the BB went down!

l have to admit that l found it instantly easy to use as soon as l got it but not everybody is the same when they are using it.
