Dropouts Yet Again

Hello. Again.
I am having problems with my internet dropping out. Again.

Nearly every morning when I try and connect the internet is down, and I have to crawl under the table, unplug the modem, wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in.

Usually this will fix it for the rest of the day. But some days, like today, it will work for about 20 seconds and then drop again. Usually when this happens, a simple unplug-and-wait doesn't work, and the modem fails to reconnect (the green tick keeps flashing). In fact, my internet went out whilst I was typing this post (good job I saved it!).

I have had 2 engineers out in the past to try and fix this problem. The first put new wire in the house, and removed the 10 dB attenuator on the modem.

The second engineer did something in the box in the street, and installed a new 10 dB attenuator.

After both of these visits, the modem worked for a time, but a while after it was back to it's old problems.

This is the latest posting of my Downstream, before it dropped:

Re: Dropouts Yet Again

you will need another engineer out, could be a hub problem

the power levels arent screwed, its just not locking onto a signal and showing 1 channel

Yup, T3 and T4 timeouts are showing up a lot in the Events.
I took out the attenuator, and although my power levels are higher than they should be, at least it is locking on to all 4 downstreams now. I still had to do my daily unplug this morning though.

He is actually on a VMNG300.

He has a loss of downstream which will require an engineer.

i never said superhub! but yeah i did notice he was on a modem

either way he will need an engineer

dont let him take your modem! even if he gives you a superhub, keep that modem within 3 metres at all times!
