Re: is it possible to change my ip?
you cant change it on the superhub, as its a modem and router combined, so the mac address wont change, but if you leave it turned off for about half an hour and turn it back on again you might get a new DHCP lease, but its unlikely

Re: is it possible to change my ip?
If you're on the netgear router with a seperate modem then just change the MAC in the hub.. Reboot the hub and reboot the modem.
VM will not change the IP for you

Re: is it possible to change my ip?
I presume the standard hub? like this:
if so, its still the same, it is a router and modem combined, so the modem will register the mac address of the router, which you cant change.
If you have a desperate security issue and you need your IP changing, im sure you will probably be able to get tech support to do it, as long as you get through to someone who knows what their talking about.
What is the security reason?

Re: is it possible to change my ip?
Why would they? Only reason for an IP change is that you're blacklisted somewhere.. Not VM's problem..

Re: is it possible to change my ip?
no it has nothing to do with being blacklisted any where, the house i stay in is being used by a college who pay me £1000 a day to have their students stay here, at one point they where using my connection until the college installed their own so i would like to change the ip... i am guessing when i upgrade to 30/50mbit that will happen any way but i am not sure when i will .. also just to add if i was blacklisted all i would do is use the second internet connection the college installed that i have access to and could easily just use that and it uses a bt line that they installed 4 phone lines.. but i am good and follow rules in any forum/irc chan or anything i use online.

Re: is it possible to change my ip?
There is no functionality to change IPs for customers. If you have a hub, the old modem should have been disconnected.
I don't see the need to change IP's? what is it you think they did ?

the upgrade to 30 or 50 will change your IP, as you will be moved onto the DOCSIS3 network and have a new superhub, and as for them hacking into the schools computers, why would you need to change your IP? its not like they have programmed your computer to do anything?

If they had programmed his PC, it would do it anyway regardless of an IP change.
Unless they are remoting into it, which could I guess be IP based.

But if they're remoting into it then they've probably got it set up to register the ip with dyndns anyway so an IP change won't do any good then either

In fact I think the FBI and CIA have issued a warning that someone from a VM IP is tampering, remotely with some high level equipment ..
