I suspect this will happen in a small number of cases. i have personally only found one instance ie 'Click'.'

Sorry, didn't mean to butt in. It's just that our two problems seemed so similar and, much as I love my TiVo, I'm getting frustrated. The 'intelligent' series links and the recommendations were two features I was so looking forward to and both seem to be flawed at present.

The V+ does not "handle" it though. The V+ only ever records the episode you specifically set it up to record. It's basically as dumb as a digital VCR. Hence it being a DVR; Digital Video Recorder.
Tivo is a PVR; Personal Video Recorder.

Do I stop watching Click, or delete 15 or so shows aweek from now on?

Neither. Do as I suggested and either specifically set one recording yourself manually or set up a repeating manual recording. In fact, another thought just occured. Set up a SL for Sunday AM showing on BBC1. There's only one a week of that version

You don't need to. "Click" is unique and, if you record the Sunday AM version on BBC1, a standard SL will do the job.
Also, there should be no problem using "new only" on UK programming. It's just some of the US imports that have the US OAD and not the UK one; therefore requiring use of "new and repeats".

And, mostly, it is. Nothing is ever perfect. But, hopefully, it will improve over time.

Not to mention..
Setting up recordings remotely
Recording 3 things at once
Etc etc etc
Why on earth would I worry about a very small number of duplicate recordings?

Definitely not the only one, very disappointed here too. Some of the problems I am having are (in no particular order ); - The noise and vibration of the unit, makes sleeping in the room above almost impossible! I know many on here have said they are almost silent, but certainly not what my installer said about the others he had installed and certainly not the case with me!
- The speed of the box. Was only a little slower than V+ when I first got it, but now it's 35% full, there is a delay of up to 10 seconds to get through some of the menus. Luckily I'm running out of slots I can record things in anyway (see below).
- Remote control. Unit is at a very slight angle to armchair, certainly less than 45 degrees, more like 15 and around 6 foot away and remote control will not work (certainly no chance of it working in any other seat in the room). In order to guarentee the control working, I need to stand up, take one step to the right and one step forward, then bend down. I have tried my Harmony control and also the old V+ one and they are all the same.
- Wishlists. I have set up a few, some of which have now tried to record as new series are starting. One example is Waterloo Road starting next Wednesday. It found the programme but tried to record it from BBC1, BBC1 HD, BBC1 England, BBC1 Wales etc, etc. Got confused and decided not to record any. It also cancelled the one other programme I had set to record at the same time. Cancelling the series link and Wishlist does not fix anything. This has happened with a few other Wishlists and now I have four slots during each week where I cannot record anything.
I do have a couple of friends and a brother who also have TIVO's, the two friends also have problems, although not as many as me. My brother however, is happy as anything with his.
A few others on this forum have some of the problems too, I can only guess that the units were rushed out and some of them may not have been 'quality assured' I will request a new box when I get a chance to get a day off work, but until then, the V+ will be coming out of my daughters bedroom and back downstairs.

That definately sounds like a 'Friday afternoon' box. They need to get that replaced for you.

FYI, if you're expecting TiVo to record MOTD2 tomorrow then it wont as it is on BBC1 this week
Unfortunately TiVo doesn't handle channel changes very well (much like the V+)
On another note, does anyone think it's worth e-mailing TMS with EPG issues?

The Wishlist problem is one both my friends have too. I wonder if there is a TIVO error in there somewhere. Has anyone else experienced it? I didn't actually know until I was looking through my planned recordings and noticed it was not there. Went in to hiccups and found about 10 versions of it. Then tried to cancel links and record again and was unable to add anything. Now I cannot set anything to record on a Wednesday between 7.30 and 8.30, it just goes straight to hiccups.

No problem at all mate. Iin an ideal world everything should work perfectly from day 1 but I guess I just don't get why the odd duplicate recording would cause frustration - its much better than missing the show completely.
Tivo is about proactively gathering lots of content together in one place based around what you like and then lettling you choose what to watch when you want to watch it and to delete what you don't. Its like having your own dedicated tv channel with all programmes available when you want them. A duplicate recording is just like having a repeat in the schedule - why worry about it?

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Well my engineer has been here since 9am so far he's managed to drop the box off my tv stand, and he's still at the blue screens and is trying to get hits sent to the box every 5 mins. He really doesn't have a clue... It's his first install of TiVo as well!

The repeats don't bother me. It's just that they shouldn't happen if TiVo was working as it should. Of much more concern are the programmes missing from series links. I do buy in to the whole TiVo idea. It's just that I was expecting something a little smarter than it actually is. After all, the V+ in the bedroom handles its version of series links flawlessly. I hope that by giving this kind of feedback here it will speed development to getting TiVo where it should be.
