They've disconnected your V+ in error. Give Faults a call.

They get deleted automatically after two weeks.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

So finally got TiVo installed this morning only 24 hours late. Really good install nice bloke that explain alot and showed me through the setup. Every thing seems fine apart from the backwards epg at the minute the epg doesn't go backwards? Goes forwards about 10 days at the minute but nothing backwards. Engineer said it takes about 24 hours to download all the stuff so I assume that's why.

Apart from that it's a great bit of kit

Cheers

Mine never went back beyond the day it was installed! Therefore it took a full week to populate the backward EPG.

Enjoy your TiVo. You will love it, I promise!

So I note from eons ago that Picasa and FB are available now through the MyTiVo apps website. How do you get them to appear on your box. I have set up the necessary online. Do you need to be signed in as the main account holder?

Although you can activate them on the website, I don't think the actual apps on the TiVo have been delivered yet. They are promised soon, I believe.

The planned update for later this year/early next is two Tivos being able to access each other over a network, so that you can watch shows recorded on one tivo on the other.

Presumably, this would give you effectively 6 tuners?

Yes I have the two times I've used iPlayer, to be honest I forget about iPlayer, with it being hidden away in apps.

Am I the only one here disappointed with Tivo?

I've had Tivo almost 2 weeks, the installer said think of Tivo as something totally different to anything that was here before, so I have done just that, but I cant help feeling disappointed and confused with a few things.

at the moment I missing Interactive, used to read news and weather every day.

I seem to be pressing buttons all the time to do simple things, and before I know it Im 6 pages deep in the menus. I know theres shortcuts but its hard enough remembering which buttons do what in different menus already.

I've put a wishlist in for Alan Sugar/The Apprentice. Will it recored the new series by itself or do I have to set a SL? I can see The Apprentice on BBC One hd listings but theres nothing to say Tivo will record it.

Typing anything is so time consuming, but in other places in the menus I can use the number keys like you do on a mobile?

I thought when you searched all TV everything available would be listed, but music videos dont appear and theres no search facility in Music OD, as my post says above the ads are bad enough.

Thumbs up only works in certain menus/pages for me and how do I get info on programmes without going deeper into the guide/menus?

I just seem to be pressing buttons all the time

My drive has got to 47% today and Tivo seems to be getting slower the more thats on it. When I got tivo installed I said to the engineer how fast Tivo was, but he said it slows down the more thats recorded on it. It appears to be correct at the moment??

I dont understand how SL works on Tivo. Ice Road Truckers recorded tonight clashing with my other recordings even though I set IRT to record on the saturday morning repeat. How do I set a SL just for the saturday episode? The V+ had no problem with this.

I've turn off suggestions today as I was getting lots of shows I've seen already in the past, nothing new for me.

In View Network Diagnostics the Port config test says "Failed"

It takes longer to change channels and when I go into different menus I lose picture and audio for a second.

And most of the sd channels are shocking, for example, euronews was so blurred and soft when I flicked through the news channels for the wedding, wont even mention SkyLivingit.

Dont get me wrong, I realise its a brand new product with loads of potential and everyone here loves it, but at the moment for me its abit of a let down.

Or am I doing something wrong? or maybe I just looked forward to Tivo too much?

I still have my V+ and Im thinking of swapping it back as the main box, as I guess its too late to send Tivo back?

I think so

Yes it's not available right now. Will be soon though.

That said, I use my Tivo to watch TV and nothing else. Though I know everyone's different.

Such as?

Should do. Though I'd use a SL as it's only on the one channel.

Again, not yet but soon.

Quote:

Yep. Me too. They might fix that. Not sure.

The "Info" button.

My drive has got to 47% today...
After just two weeks? Though you don't mention if it's just you or a family.

Pass. Only at 12% myself.

Quote:

That's because the V+ only dumbly recorded the episodes you set it to record. Tivo is more intelligent and will always record the next available airing. To record a specific showing you will have to set a Manual Recording; thus defeating the whole object of having a Tivo

Quote:

This is correct.

Quote:

Mine takes no longer than my SA V+ did and is due to it flushing and restarting the buffer.

Quote:

Yeah. Menu changing does suck a little at the moment.

They look fine to me but then I don't have an HD TV and my eyesight's not brilliant anyway

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

@jobbie8- I'm also finding SL and quite a few other features hard to get the hang of, and also can't quite understand why TiVo marks multiple identical episodes of shows to record. But I've only had TiVo for two days, and I'm hoping to find my way around eventually. My main gripe at the moment is Parental Controls. It's a real pain to have to enter a PIN to watch a recording. Might not sound like much but it really gets up my nose. As for the PQ, I also found it quite awful on some channels. Then I saw a post (can't remember who the poster was- sorry!) that said they had changed the Video Output to 720p. This made a considerable difference to the Picture Quality IMO. Just make sure you select the "Continue" button (to the top right of the screen) when you select the 720p option, and not just press "ok", or TiVo won't save the option.

Maybe I'm different here but if I set my box to record Hawaii Five O for example on Sunday night at 9pm, then I want it to continue this trend every week until the series finishes , not record it's first airing and potentially cause a clash.

Thanks for the info on the PQ, the installer set mine to 1080i, will check it out. Glad Im not the only one whos finding Tivo hard to get the hang of.

This is what I meant, Ice Road Truckers recorded tonight and is going to record tomorrow, and I always recorded Click on BBC News channel on a sunday morning at 11.30am on the V+. I have just checked my planned recordings, Tivo is going to record 8 versions of the same Click on BBC News over the coming weekend even though SL is set to "new". To me thats crazy, if Tivo is more intelligent why is it doing this?

Just me, I recorded some Carry Ons and other films from ITV3, plus my 18 or so series links all HD
My wife is'nt impressed with Tivo, has'nt used the recording feature yet, and she has stopped watching Music OD because she cant be bothered to troll through the listings.
My son has the V+ in his bedroom so does'nt use Tivo as yet.
