BBC 2 HD will not be happening any time soon as they have BBC HD that shows the remaining HD content from the rest of the bbc channels, are there barely enough to fill that channel!

A simple relaunch from BBC HD to BBC 2 HD is feasible , over time the majority of the Beebs content wil be in HD.

I thought because of the terms of the BBC Licensce BBC 3 & 4 Can't launch on HD because there isn't enough slots for them to launch on Freeview, and the BBC have to make all channels available on all platforms.

You may well be right unless room can be found on Freeview.

A spot is open in 2012 on Freeview and no doubt Channel 5 with their new shoestring budget won't be able to afford it so its certainly possible that the BBC will get it.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. II.
Hi all and Happy Royal Wedding Holiday.
Due to being away a lot and having a number of family and household issues to attend to, I haven't been keeping up with the various threads of late (for a couple of months) so I think I'll have to skip over the history and Quantum Leap directly to the present day. So, apologies if I mention anything that has already been covered recently.
Here's a subject that I haven't heard of for quite a while though. When, if at all, are we expecting a Channel 5 +1 (Five +1)?
Also, I have noticed a lot of changes (up and down) to the number of Total Channels on my V Box (currently 356) in the past few weeks and read some speculation as to what they might be for but is there a definite answer now? Have we had any new SD channels added recently or is it just Sky Arts 1 & 2 HD and Sky Sports 1 & 2 Red Button?

Hi we do not have Channel 5+1 and also in regards to your second question about the channels. We have only had Sky Arts 1+2 HD and the rest of the channels are for the interactive streams for the red button.
Hope this helps?
If I am wrong someone will correct me.

Well, there you go, that may be the answer to my query before I had even posted it!
- Channel 5 are fiscally challenged at the moment
- There is no slot currently available on Freeview for 5 +1
- Channel 5 would have to launch simultaneously on terrestrial, satellite (FreeSat & Sky) and cable platforms
I'm not sure if the latter applies to Channel 5 in the same way that it might to BBC. Can anyone confirm?

You two are the Abbot & Costello of CF - one feeds the whinge, the other then bitches about it.....
Do people actually expect a new channel/initiative every day/week/month - if so, in line with every other major content delivery companies' customers, you may need to join the real world.
(btw, I don't know if you read in another thread, that VM TV have actually delivered nearly twice as much new stuff in the last six months than Sky TV has - but let's not let reality spoil a prejudice, shall we? ).

I had a courtesy call from Sky last night , asking me how I was finding the service , he stated Sky were looking to launch at least another 20 HD channels by the end of the year , he mentioned something about more Sky sports channels , but as usual PINCH OF SALT , I wouldn't have thought there were potentially that many launching this year.

Dear Sir Hugh we are getting very steamed up here over nothing maybe its because you were not invited to the royal wedding and you need to take it out on me again, you must have a doll in your office and in your outburst you stick a pin in it and pretend its Denphone.
As for Abbot and costello well l was thinking of that legendary duel Laurel and Hardy.

Not wishing to add to the Denphone bashing but your 'Services' and 'Location' profile entries in the left-hand panel are a bit loud and difficult to read being in all upper-case.

Another 20 HD channels this seems to be going it a bit unless ocean finance channel is going HD But i would be unsurprised if sky in the future launched another sports channel if only a part time one, gets around having to put content on Red Button but the snag is would they offer it to vm who knows but to me that would eem reasonably likely.
Just a question of wait and see really mate.
