oh come on be fair Masque ,most of those jolly jaunts are paid for out the royal purse not the tax payer .The state will only pay for state occasions ,and don't forget the royal estates contribute millions of £'s towards the cost of running the whole household

Quote:
Head of State expenditure is the official expenditure relating to The Queen's duties as Head of State and Head of the Commonwealth.

Head of State expenditure has reduced significantly over the past decade, from £87.3 million in 1991-92 (expressed in current pounds) to £38.2 million in 2009-10. In the year 2009-10 The Queen cost the taxpayer just 62 pence per person.
Head of State expenditure is met from public funds in exchange for the surrender by The Queen of the revenue from the Crown Estate. In 2008-09 the Treasury’s gross receipts in respect of the Crown Estate were £230 million
basically the treasury earned £230m for an outlay of £38.2m ,not a bad return

Remember we are talking about Mr deadwood himself Andrew who will do anything for a game of golf and is to stupid to do anything constructive for the country, he is on par with his ex wife.

Who pays for the use of military aircraft especially ones that land in private gardens.

Re: The Royal Wedding 2011

More fun and games from the highly tolerant and not at all childish West of Scotland.

Quote:
BOSSES at royal wedding cake makers McVitie's have banned their Scots staff from putting up a union Flag to celebrate the marriage.
They said the flag was not acceptable because of "direct connotations with football and sectarianism".
Staff at the McVitie's factory in Glasgow put up a British flag yesterday as they decorated their works canteen for the big day on Friday.
But management ordered it taken down after other employees complained that it was "offensive" and a threat to their "dignity at work".

So even when you have been shown that they make money for us, You just chose to ignore it to give us an in-site in to your anti royal agenda

Then the Royal family should ensure they no longer give them any orders for future weddings.

Re: The Royal Wedding 2011

It's ridiculous how we've got to the stage where a flag or even being British is offensive to some people.

It's not that this has just happened in the last couple of weeks - it has been the case in some places for many, many, years.

Regrettable and unfortunate yes, but it's not simply "ridiculous" when you look at the reasons behind some of the stated positions.

Re: The Royal Wedding 2011

It's because it's became widely accepted that if you want to be offended by something then someone will take notice of your objection.

we've allowed it to get to that stage, and there's no turning back.
other than to say get stuffed with your being offended.

No, actually, it isn't that simplistic - it's something far deeper. People have been capable of being offended for thousands of years, it's nothing new.

To address instances of offence being caused as a result of overt showings of nationalism one answer (at least one which has had a positive effect of reducing offence caused and offence taken) has been the enforcement of the Flags and Emblems Act which had dramatic positive effects here in Northern Ireland (at that time the most sectarian divided civilization in the West) when it banned the display of national flags (whether British or Irish) in workplaces and other certain public areas.

On that basis alone nobody can deny that the removal of national flags from workplaces where there are mixed denominations / religions and creeds has worked.
