Poll - Is the ability to search On Demand and watch directly from EPG working for you

There seems to be a hit and miss issue with the EPG on On Demand content at the moment. It's working for some and not others. It has been raised with 151 but so far has not been fixed

This is what is happening:

Backwards EPG
What you should get is an option to watch from Catchup TV and go to the option to play this episode
What many people get is the main Catchup TV menu where they have to find the show manually

Search On Demand and Catchup Content
What should happen: When you search for a show (E.G. True Blood) you should select the show and get an option to watch from catchup TV or On demand. The option I think says 'Get from On demand'
What happens for many people is that there is no option to watch available shows, just the option to record future episodes

I have phoned 151 4 times now, and they have now moved it up the chain, first to the second line dept, then too TiVo themselves in America (or so they say)
It's weird that it works for some and not for others, so can we have a poll -
  1. Does it work as described?
  2. Where are you (I'm in Walsall, West Mids)
  3. When did you have it installed
  4. Any other info

Would be interesting to see how many this is affecting and whether there is a pattern

Re: Poll - Is the ability to search On Demand and watch directly from EPG working for

I would have said 'no' to being able to watch (or even find) VOD content from search, until around an hour ago when, if by magic, it started working.

And I've been able to watch at least a couple of VOD programmes directly from the Catch-Up EPG.

If it helps, I had TiVo installed eariler today, in Coventry.

Mine also appears to be working now. I'm in Hertfordshire and got TiVo installed on Friday.

This should have been fixed for everyone now. Let me know if not.

As I said elsewhere after a few "On Demand is unavailable" messages tonight it has now started working and I've been installed a week.

Just checked mine again (Been out all night) and it's working now.
Only thing is, you still don't pick up any Music on Demand with the search function? I know the search works on the V+ as I've just tried it.

Did Virgin say what the problem had been with the EPG etc?

Re: Poll - Is the ability to search On Demand and watch directly from EPG working for

TiVo installed Wednesday. My On Demand is unavailable, but the network status online for my area does say that On Demand has a fault.
Everything else seems okay except You Tube, just freezes and is unusable right now.

It was an incorrect setting on your account which stopped the box indexing your local VOD content.

I thought with Tivo you did one search and the results showed across all content, TV, Demand, youtube. Really missing using music OD, gave up trying with searching with one letter.

Ok, after nearly 24 hours of install, I've noticed the following:

Reverse EPG goes back to Wed morning (00:00) and selecting Catchup programs from the past either:
- prompts to Watch on Catchup (e.g. Midsomer Murders)
- prompts to browse Catchup On Demand (e.g. NCIS)

Search All TV for stuff that is definitely in on-demand appears to work, although perhaps I need to find more examples. e.g. Peep Show is in the guide and on-demand, and I get option to record or watch on-demand.

However, the example you gave, True Blood, is not listed at all On-Demand. That's browsing A-Z in Catchup and TV On Demand. Can you find another example that doesn't work?

I think there was a major glitch early this week that got sorted out Wednesday afternoon, and perhaps we need to wait now until the EPG is completely sorted?

So far so good (except the bad PQ).

Boz

Yes, I'm really hoping this becomes a bit more seamless over time. It's getting better already, but it's not quite working as I imagined at the moment. Give it time though.

Re: Poll - Is the ability to search On Demand and watch directly from EPG working for

I had not given it enough time a thought
a bit of a waste of time as it kept coming up
with "watch from catch up tv on demand"
but after reading this

"Using the backwards grid:
* If a programme listing in the EPG has a "C" with a circular arrow around it, this programme has been/is/will be available via Catch-up TV
* Upon selecting an eligible listing, if the prompt reads "Watch now on Catch Up TV on Demand", you can link directly to the programme through the backwards grid. If it says "Go to Catch-up TV on Demand", the programme is either unavailable on Catch-up TV or has not been linked through the backwards grid. Catch-up TV programmes typically take between 24-48 hours to link with their corresponding EPG listing."

From this

http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/...um/td-p/458723
I Just had not given it enought time.
Playing something from two days ago direct from the EPG
is just amazing
The more you play with it
