Makes good commercial sense hence why Sky has already done it.

That's good info, though quite amusing is that she previously blogged that it 'Won’t Shake Viewing Habits' lol

sorry most wont agree but sky atlantic is one,More new shows will start to appear and its clear from latest viewing figures released new shows especially being shown a day after the us are getting the viewers,Universal is another its has some great us shows on but the sd quality on vm of this channel is one of the worst. The picture quality on my skyhd box for universal HD is superb

800k for the top viewed show = getting the viewers?

Really?

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. II.

So I would guess VM can get Universal HD but back to that Sky Atlantic issue for you.

The fact that these are award winning series means they are popular in the USA so should be good quality programmes if you like their style.

The strange factor is the relatively low viewing figures for all the promotion given by Sky, is it just that the majority of UK viewers just do not get interested in USA styled series? Still think VM should do a deal for Atlantic but hard to demand if viewing has not been exceptional.

The Pacific (and maybe Game of Thrones) has only been the first programe that has caught my interest and that is a repeat from Sky Movies.

I actually think if VM add a few more obvious gaps in HD channels and did actually get their cash out for some of the more popular new content channels then that would be enough.

They don't have to buy everything and from my view point I always have enough content I enjoy recorded to watch. If I had more content available, when would I find the time to actually watch it as we are watching recordings every night now and have a backlog all the time and that is just on VM!

Just don't want to be in a situation like it was with Lost a few years back (yes we were "Lost" addicts at the time) where a really popular series is put on a Sky only channel. Atlantic has the risk of that happening again?

It's common sense really, I dunno why anyone would think it wouldn't effect viewing habits. It's obvious that if you're scrolling down the EPG you're going to watch the first thing you see that you like. The lower down the EPG the more likely you'll find something to watch before you get to the channel.

You have lots of fair points matey,I am currently watching quite a lot of sky atlantic whilst i am on my half price deal and will be very sad to lose it in june. But it certainly looks like we will have a long wait to see it on vm if ever,Vm are throwing there cash at 3d and on demand content whilst hd is still lagging.Really cant understand it

Quite agree in the future if you had BBC1 HD to ch 101 and the SD version to 108 see the viewing figures change, people are inherently lazy with choosing high number channels, what was BBCHD again!

Very well put , I think 3 channels that would add a good variety for VM customers are Sky Atlantic HD , Universal HD and Nat Geo Wild HD.

Is that Grrrr because she's watching in SD, or because she's watching it at all ??
