l totally agree whats the point of recording things which l want to watch at that time not later, thats why l set reminders so l do not miss certain programmes.

Agree on picture qaulity, while not bad, it is just as not as good as my SA V+ was. The most obvious for me is BBC1 SD where the V+ upscaling almost made it look HD level certainly compared to other channels. I now have a clear picture but with a slight softening effect and less detailed face profile which the upscaling gave and you see on HD anyway. Not the end of the world but just not as good, you would expect Tivo to be as good surely.

Before the V+ was around reminders were the only way to ensure you didn't miss a programme. Now we have multiple tuners and a large hard drive they really aren't needed. Also if its a show or event that you really want to see you shouldn't be forgetting about it just before it starts
If you desperately need a reminder that the news is on at 6 then there is something wrong :P its on that time everyday lol. However you could always set an alarm or calender reminder on your mobile phone?

What uter nonsense you are talking about reminders l am afraid Stephen.

Can you replay a previous programme from the EPG from ITV, Channel 4 or 5?

Disagreeing with you is not necessarily ut(t)er nonsense, just disagreement. Your needs/wants are not necessarily his, and vice-versa.
Take a chill pill, dp.

It's not just about spoilers either. If you're watching it live then there's a chance that if I shout loud enough at the TV I might actually influence the game. A butterfly flapping it's wings over the amazon and all that.

No doubt if there is enough people whinging about them VM and TiVo may consider adding them. TiVo doesn't have them so they would need to be added as a new feature.

Lets get one thing clear we do not whinge we just have opinions.

It spins permanently but is really almost silent. The only concern I would have with a drive that is always spinning is wear but, as it is not my box, any problem are VM problems.

You should be able to select a programme where the catchup sign is shown in the 7 day backwards EPG. However right now it seems for most poeple that selection takes you to the general catchup screen so you then have to find the programme. This is something which is being investigated I understand and once resolved, you should be able to select a programme and it should start without having to hunt for it.

Not really going to have any effect on wear.
Google did a huge study into the lifespan of drives under different usage patterns, and there wasn't a correlation between heavy usage and failure rate.

I would think as long as you tell the engineer he will be able to do that. Really it's something they should know about and not expect their customers to have to remind them
