Let's hope one of the VM staff can clarify that for us or tell us if it's a fault or delay on some systems. When did you get your TiVo installed? I'm just wondering if it takes a few days for the system to access all features? Wouldn't see why it would be that but don't know why some areas would get features of the TiVo that others can't.

I have my TIVO for just over a month as I was one of the lucky ones to win a TIVO in the second draw, So it could be a case of waiting or as you say it may be a fault that one of the staff can clarify

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
As a new Tivo user (since Thursday) I have just tried Devil's 'Monroe' test and sad to report that I don't get the option to play it direct either.
Incidently the guide has only filled backwards as far as the early hours Thursday, I guess that it only fills from around install date?
---------- Post added at 16:36 ---------- Previous post was at 16:32 ----------
...also, the Tivo didn't find the programme Monroe in a search though it did find lots of people called Monroe so I has to navigate to it. There doesn't seem to be an option to filter just on programme titles which is a shame.

Far to early to comment on it yet, but you have to be practically in front of the box to get the remote control to work
|
No problem with the remote here! Can you rewind your epg to last week to play programmes that have the little "c" in the box?

Hounslow, West London. I think it comes under Hayes as far as Virgin is concerned.
Doesn't seem to be regional but the common thread is that we had our tivos installed in the last few days!

Can you remember if yours was ok from the start or did you have to wait for the epg to fill in.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Had Tivo installed this afternoon (Nottingham), quick install on around 40 minutes only. Installer who came wasn’t the person planned (his vehicle had broken down so he was fill in at last moment but had installed Tivo before). The installer was friendly but didn’t have full knowledge of all Tivo features and admitted I probably knew more than him on features. Fine, nice for him to be honest. Required a manual hit to activate but smooth replacement of SA V+ at least.
Few points:
1. Tivo remote control not controlling volume, installer was told to state press TV and Clear button together until 2 green flashes are seen on the remote, then press 0999 and then keep pressing the channel up button. This tells the Tivo to request TV settings apparently and can take up to 2 hours so patiently waiting to see when I can control volume. Take it there is no other way, if yes please post details, I have a Sony KDL40HX803 TV
2. Have to say picture definitely looks not as sharp as the SA V+ when viewing SD channels, can see that “softer” effect other people have mentioned. Tivo has auto selected 1080i for HDMI signal which was the setting I had on the V+ as well. Not the end of the world but the only slight negative so far among many positives, but something is definitely different between the 2 boxes form my picture experience, didn’t expect an older box to be better at SD up scaling but the SA V+ clearly is.
3. Had to use an equaliser on the Tivo box input as my signal was slightly high, no problems just thought I would mention.
4. Lost 3 recordings of Sky One Fringe on the old box because I made a mess of recording them onto to DVD earlier (selected wrong input channel to DVD recorder!). Nothing Tivo can do about that of course but shows need for VM to do a deal with Sky on catch up/OD content as it is a gap with popular programmes in my house e.g. Fringe, House, etc, and it will be some time before Sky repeat episodes of the current series. I am not in my wife’s good books right now but a price worth paying to get a Tivo!
Now I just need to get the kids off the Wii (attached to the same TV) to find out more!
Having no problems with the angle for the remote control by the way, seems fine wherever I am in our room.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
I'm in North Yorkshire and can watch "Monroe" directly from the EPG.
One interesting thing I did just notice though. Whilst Thursday's "Loose Women" is available directly from the EPG, Friday's edition of the show says "Go to..." and not "Play from...". So I wonder if it's something like it take 48 hours for it to be available directly through the EPG?

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
You will only be able to rewind the EPG to the point where your EPG data begins. If you have only just, today, had Tivo installed then why is anyone surprised that they can't go back to yesterday in the EPG.
Carl Waring just posted the above message. It makes sense and could be the answer. Can anybody who has had the TiVo for a while comment please.
