Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

Add me to the list of people who specified two dates when I would be available only to be given a random date when I wouldn't be. Will phone them in the morning!

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

I've watched with some amusement all the shenanigans with the way that Virgin Media has rolled out Tivo and without a doubt people have reacted somewhat unreasonably at times - however, Offering a 1st and 2nd choice and then giving people a completely different date and time is a good way of annoying an awful lot of people.

They would have been much better just offering a date - it's a bit like telling people they have a choice of school for their children and then telling them that they have to have a school 20 miles away.

Fail!

Having said that I now have a date earlier than first offered - just hope they come when promised - not hopeful based on their current track record

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

I had my Tivo installed today with no problems. The enginer was polite and friendly and knew exactly what he was going. He had to boost the signal from the box in the street. Connected a couple of wires, went through some set up screens and it was done. He waited while the Tivo downloaded it's stuff and then gave me a brief tour of the box. He'd done 6 instalations today and I was his last. He said that of 4 out of six there were internet connecting troubles. Which Virgin would have had to sort out. Luckily mine worked perferctly, Very pleased and satisfied with the whole process.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

Gentleman,
Previously i have criticised VM for their fiasco since dec for the pre regs.
Monday @ 10a.m i received a email.
I spoke to a very nice CS rep , ordered my Tivo she could not order an install.
Told me she would ring back.
She rang me back that day.
Install booked for today.
Engineer came at the right time
Installed everything well and dead quickly- approx 30 mins according to the missus.
Explained everything to her clearly.
The picture quality is first rate
The sound via my sony amp is powerful especially in DD
Its a treat to use and given the work that must have gone on i now understand the wait and im supprised that it was not a longer wait given the level of applying tivo to vm
Its slick, smooth and a bargin
Well done VM you have made for for everything and to everyone waiting you wont be disappointed.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

I've Found one negative with the TIVO so far. You can't set reminders which we use a lot in our family.

No reminders? Seems odd, was a very useful tool....

I second that! I've had my TiVo for a day and a half now and I like nearly everything about it but it's still so obviously a work in progress. The sluggish speed of the interface (compared to the SA V+ box) and integration of the BBC iPlayer into the EPG are two things that need looking at urgently. But I really, really miss the reminders which were very useful in this household so as not to miss things like news and the start of live events that you don't wish to see 'second hand' via a recording. If you're listening, VM, PLEASE can we have them back.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

Hmm, just got my VM Bill e-mailed to me and the payment for the TiVo isn't included. Install hasn't happened yet (Monday).

I've spoken a couple of times to CS on some other issues and the install is definitely marked against my account.

Can Ben or DF confirm that it'll only get added to the bill after the install?

The BBC OD not being in the EPG is a BBC stipulation so there isn't much VM can do about that, blame the trust and there stupid rules. I find it odd you say it's sluggish compared to an SA as my TiVo is like lightning compared to my SA!

PS I have never really used the reminders but I can see if you do it's a blow to loose them. Personly I don't think they will be put back in.

The sluggish speed is most likely down to it still downloading information in the background. TiVo owners I've spoken to say that there's a notable speed improvement after a few days as the info finishes downloading and you get the full three weeks of EPG content (two weeks forward, one back)

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

Morning,

OK, so still no email, phone call or text. Any idea what to do? Ring retentions or just ring the Tivo number?

Cheers
