Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Wouldn't it be great if they could turn the 10mb modem in the Tivo into a sort of Slingbox app, so you could login to watch your tv from anywhere.

I received my TIVO email offer today and rang up and am having it installed this Friday, and I have upgraded to VIP50 and asked for my V+ box to replace one of the existing V boxes and asked for the additional V box to be removed so I will just have the TIVO and the V+ box, but my question is I was told that would be £100.55pm. Is that correct or will I have to pay extra per month for the V+ box being my additional box? Also, will I just pay the £149.95 installation fee or will there be extra charges for increasing to 50mb broadband etc. I should have asked when I called, but I was too excited about getting the TIVO to ask at the time! Thanks.

I'm currently on VIP20 and upgrading to VIP50 with TiVo. I was originally quoted £100.55 a month, then after being on hold was told it would be £105.60 with the Caller ID I currently have. I am also keeping my V+, with it going to another room to replace the V HD in there.
I was also quoted the £149 activation for TiVo and £30 activation for going to 50 meg BB.

Thanks for the reply. How much is Caller ID as I dont have it (Can't get it in my area!) I wondered if I would have to pay extra for installment of the larger Broadband Speed, but its naughty they didnt tell me that! Thanks.

Just looked it up and it's £2.05 so they are charging an extra £3.00pm for the V+ box? Does that sound right or maybe the person at Virgin didnt take off the £3 monthly charge for the TIVO as VIP50 customers are getting it refunded, I belief?

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
I have been with Virgin Midea and its previous incarnations ( Bell Cable , Cabke and Wireless , Ntl ) etc for over 20 years , i have found that if you don;t ask or question why they are charging something they just charge you ...The Customer services people have some discretion , so if you ask or question an instalation charge or the cost of something they can wave it .
The motto is if your don't ask you don't get.. So haggle and get the best deal for yourself , it has saved me money many times .

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Just looked at the small print on the email I received and it says on the bottom that there will be a £30 one off activation charge for upgrading from 20mb to 50mb.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Is it true that when you have a Tivo at £3 per month. You dont have to pay multiroom of what you did when you had 2 v+ boxes. So I would save £2 as I payed £5 for multiroom.

Multiroom is still £6.50, so it would be £6.50 + £3 for TiVo surely (unless you're on VIP).

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Finally after 5 phone calls lasting a total of an hour and a half Ive finally got an install date for Saturday.
The person I spoke to seemed to think that as Ive ordered Tivo I now wont get my Sky Premium HD till my Tivo installed, surely this is wrong

I think I will leave it then. thought I heard of multiroom being scrapped if you have Tivo.
Wont be able to afford Virgin Media soon unless I find a way of getting more money.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
The way i read the £30 activation fee to 50mb says "up to 20MB " i asked when i was upgrading today from 20 to 50 and was told that the only additional charge for moving to the Tivo 1tb on VIP50 was £149.99 which would be charged to my next bill , i confirmed all the charges at the end of the call and was assured that all i would pay for upgrading to VIP50 with HD movies and instalation and keeping my HDD Box as my second box was £149.99 .
So i presume the wording can be read as " upto but not including 20MB " from what i was told by the person who handled my upgrade as she did ask me to hold while she checked it all and my question about the contract not being renewed and remaining on a 30day rolling contract and not a new 12 month one .
