It has Three tuners and you can actually record three programmes at the same time as watching a previous recording.

Only iPlayer (or YouTube) as On Demand uses a tuner

If you are not on the channel it wants to record it will show a warning saying that it needs to change channel
Or if you are and you try and change you should get a warning saying it'll need to cancel a recording to change the channel

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
But when it cancels a planned recording it then goes and finds that programme when it is repeated so it can record it. If you think about it, this is what you manually do yourself on V+ when you set up ther recordings in the first place or if series recordings, V+ then alerts you of a clash if more than 2 recordings, while Tivo will just go and find an alternative recording itself. So nothing to worry about if Tivo picks 3 recordings at the same time and you are watching something which needs a tuner already e.g. already watching live TV on another channel which will certainly happen with me, as often watching live TV at 9pm while several recordings on other channels commence so this will be my clash time.

Quote:
A legal battle has risen up in the USA which could have global repercussions, with giants Time Warner Cable and Viacom filing lawsuits against each other over the right to stream channels to devices like the Apple iPad.
The row sees cable companies take on channel providers over what devices they can stream channels to.
In this case, Time Warner Cable believes that it has the right to stream the channels that it shows onto devices that can be used like televisions (ie tablets and phones). And many channel owners (like Viacom) believe that they should be the ones to decide and benefit financially.
So, Time Warner Cable has gone to the New York court in order to ask it to 'confirm its view' on the contractual allowance to stream, and Viacom has filed a suit claming breach of contract and copyright violations.
The UK's television landscape is very different, with the likes of Sky choosing to stream its own channels (thus neatly avoiding any problem) but problems could arise if the satellite giant, or BT or cable provider Virgin Media for that matter, started to stream channels that they don't own.
|
As if Sky would allow VM to do that. They don't even let VM show Sky content in TiVo's mini-window within the EPG.
I hope TWC win, they've paid for the content already, as so has the customer, what he/she does with it after receiving the content is their business (excluding creating pirate copies of course).

If you are out does it automatically change channel? Reminders used to do this; if you didn't respond it would automatically change channel for you

Word on these pages has been that it is Sky being petty and not allowing it on TiVo only
