He really is turning out to be a right plonker. I don't think he knows what he's doing from one day to the next. I don't even know whether he's taking his medication.

So what do the experts on here think we should do then stop all overseas funding allow the taliban and al qaeda to get a bigger hold on pakistan. If we can cut extremism by education in countries like pakistan then we damn well should put some money in. 650 million now is a damn sight cheaper then a war later on which we would have to fight in the case of pakistan as they are a nuclear nation not to mention the lives of our service people that would be saved not having to go there and fight another foreign war.

Re: Cameron Pledges £650 million to Pakistan.

When we hear how unnecessary suffering is being caused by hip and knee operations being deferred by NHS Trusts as a result of funding cuts???????

Why didn't Cameron admit to the Pakistanis that we can't afford it or maybe it's just so he can look good on the World stage.

Seems we can always find some spare cash so the PM can look good.

Re: Cameron Pledges £650 million to Pakistan.

It is not 'Spare' cash - there will be Overseas 'Aid' funds budgeted for the purpose of Overseas Aid.

This money comes from a fund that is ringfenced and was sorted out long ago this is not money being taken from anywhere in the UK from cuts. Also while it's easy to avoid the main points i made address them and add some credibility to your opposition to this .

Granted - but could that fund not have been used to reduce cuts in the UK? It may not have come from cuts but it has come from somewhere - likely us?
Seems very unfair that UK schools have received a massive cut to their budgets but we can send out 60 million (initially) to aid another country's schools? Off course I understand it's not this simple and not as black and white as it looks - there are the points you mention to consider which I agree with. But telling a country you're hiking taxes & slashing their school budget and then sending a shedload of money out to help another country's schools is bound to upset people.

the fence should have been torn down and the funds used here not somewhere else

Charity begins at home we should start letting these countries sort themselves out and not interferring it costs this country billions and half the time its a total waste of time and effort anyway

Normally I'd agree but when they have cash to buy 4 new submarines when we are scrapping ships it sucks, surely we could give them one of ours and the cash they are spending on them be spent on education instead.

Better still drop a can of instant sunshine on them that way we'll save £650million.

How much of that £650million will make it's way to Muslim Extremists?

Re: Cameron Pledges £650 million to Pakistan.

I think Pakistan need to start taxing their rich (only 1% pay tax?) instead of keep lending more and more money from the IMF to spend on arms instead of education. It's not going to get better until they do. We'll just keep on bending over and bailing them out.

We can ask Pakistan for some money to prop up our NHS which the Tories are killing off.

The NHS doesn't need more money, it has had huge amounts of it thrown at it and look at the result. 'Propping up' the NHS by throwing more cash at it to waste isn't an option.

As far as Pakistan goes this makes sense for a few reasons, look a bit more deeply into it, it's not being done for the sake of charity.
