Well they're playing a dangerous game, I was so close to calling it a day earlier. I'm a big believer in keeping companies on their toes, Sky will happily welcome me to the family.
Making customers wait 4 months for a product that was supposed to launch the end of 2010 is bad enough, then when the time finally comes not even getting my name right in an email explaining how valuable I am is almost unforgettable!
Let's hope they take this opportunity to get my name right and offer me a much better deal than poor Dean.

Unfortunately not, but I got the impression they're aware how badly that 'special price' has been received.

Glad VM are listening and a lower price will mean they will most likely continue to receive my £100 a month. I feel this would be the best outcome for both VM and myself.

Sorry to shoot this down a bit, but why would Virgin sent out an email to customers saying 'This is how much we'll charge you' and then immediately tell Retentions that it won't be that price after all?

Me thinks the Retentions agent was telling you what you wanted to here

My that is not very good practice.

Well I'm only saying what I was told on the phone, if it does indeed turn out to be false VM can kiss goodbye to my £100 a month as I've said earlier, Sky will welcome me with open arms! Lying directly to customers would be insane. It does fit in with what DF has said though so I have no reason to doubt her.
I suppose the email I got earlier was for Dean so £190 is probably not my price anyway!

Did anybody see in the Financial Times today that SKY was thinking of launching a hostile bid for TiVo, interesting good read!

Possibly because they have had a lot of complaints? Today's pricinng may have pushed people thinking of going to Sky, further along the path, so it would be sensible to tell retentions of a re-thought, potntially lower price, for when people ring up to cancel

Re: TiVo
A reply from Neil Berkett's office
Firstly, please allow me to sincerely apologise for the use of the wrong name on the email. This was an unfortunate case of human error, and I am genuinely sorry if it caused offense. We are in the process of correcting the emails now, but clearly not soon enough!
Secondly, please let me assure you that we gave a lot of thought to how we priced Tivo to our customer base, and we are delighted to be able to offer our 1Tb Tivo box to our customers for £50 less than new customers will be paying. Tivo is a premium product with some ground breaking functionality and worth every penny! However, I fully appreciate that this offer may not be for you. We will be coming out with a lower priced box late Spring, and you may decide to wait until then to place your order.
Whichever offer you take advantage of, you won't be disappointed
