Re: Vmng300
Thanks for confirming its not a technical limitation.
Hopefully pip gets the thing registered as promised which will prove the point when cancelling anything is allowed

No technical explanation in that.
Why wont they do it? I know the answer but its taking a lot to get it out of you.

Because they want 100Mb to use Superhubs as they can bond the channels better than the VMNG300, also I fully expect any 100Mb 2nd line agent to refuse to swap them over plus if the swap has been done as per process the old modem may drop out of the inventory which will prevent it going back on the account.
But all we need to do is wait until Pip gets his Superhub and then we will find out exactly what happens when he rings up to get the VMNG300 put back on the account as that will be the acid test.

Except the registration of equipment on the account has got nothing to do with Customer Relations
To register the VMNG300 back on the account it would have to be done via TSC, and they know that 100Mbit is via the SuperHub only so won't do it

Re: Vmng300
OK let me clarify further.
I presume retentions should know, to an extant, what can and can't be done. VM empoyees can take it from here.
I was told, rightly, that they had to send out a tech to do the install for 100Mb.
I was told that he would bring a superhub for that purpose.
I was told to make sure not to let him take my VMNG300 and hide it before if I thought necessary.
I was told that when he went I could reconnect my VMNG300 and carry on with that and experiment with speeds.
I DID say I don't really care as BT Infinity is being installed 4 days later and although it comes with a hub it has a seperate modem. (something to think about Ben)
I DID say I don't care if the above did not work but it was the option I was offered even after the rep putting me on hold and discussing it with his manager.
If it works then I will reconsider purely for the upload. If not then hello BT Infinity.
I care not one way or the other.
I will add I did NOT ring them, they rang me!

I'm not having a go at you. The person that phoned you was 100% wrong in company proceedure and product spec
100Mbit is via SuperHub only. That's what the business decided, so that's what it is

I know full well you are not having a go at me and do not take any comments in this thread as such.
What I am on about here is (as Masque said) the acid test as it really matters not to me as I am going to a service which offers a modem.
The 30th is going to be the acid test. Either it happens or it doesn't.
I've already said I don't care one way or the other.
It would be nice to see it happen though!

Re: Vmng300
when the 100mb was first released, one of the techs on this forum changed their line profile to 100mb even though they were on a vmng300 and in an area not upgraded for 100mb. this proves that the modem is capable of 100mb. whether or not they will add it to the account do not get me started on this, as i dont have a hand bag to fight with you lot.
by the way, i dont remember which vm tech it was but im sure it was one of the familiar faces who are posting in this thread. masque nopanic or someone like that

So, what you have now said means you're rep's (in retentions) are misleading customers who wish to leave VM for whatever reason.
What I have put in the OP is what I was assured of, I realise you were answering Chrys's remark but would appreciated a response about my OP.
End of story was I told and advised true or false???????????????/
BTW nice to see you out of the lab!

Sounds like the disconnect failed. Want to give me the MAC and I'll terminate it for you ?

Yes, this is done to make sure the levels are correct.

Not letting him, he works for VM, the equipment belongs to VM, if he is under instruction to remove it, he may not leave the hub .. but probably wont be arsed with old modems.

No, the equipment will be disconnected if the install is done correctly.

If it works then the systems have been incorrectly used and you will have a service you are not paying for.

To sum up .. the old modem should be disconnected correctly from the billing account, if it is not done correctly, then there is a chance you could be left with two active modems, advising customers that this is going to happen as a sales pitch, is not only against process, its stupid, as if it doesn't work you're going to be even more annoyed.
Any questions

It was me .. I don't know if that was the example you mean, but I've done it. The fact that is works is irrelevant, VM want 100 on SH only.

No-one has never said it wasn't. That's not the issue
Virgin's 100Mbit product, which includes what kit it's delivered by, is by SuperHub

No bickering just us trying to tell it as it is nothing more, remember the fiasco of the same people trying to send you a VMNG300 and you have so far received what I expected you to receive all the wrong modems because it has not been sent specifically by the person who promised it.

Re: Vmng300
OK Nopanic, let me sum up (hopefully without spelling mistakes).
The company that you work for (and I am a customer of) called me shortly after I'd called them to find out the date my contract ended.
After a long conversation a representative advived me to do exactly what I've outlined in my OP after talking to his manager.
I do not care for myself as if it doesn't work I go BT Infinity on 4th April and my contract with VM ends 23rd April.
I do care about VM customers I leave behind, if BT proves to be better I will be reporting to the fact here.
No bickering whatsoever!

Re: Vmng300
When it comes down to money it looks a bit bizarre that a customer who already has capable equipment is given new equipment (costing VM cash) thats inferior to the one they already got. Not to mention its evident this policy is increasing churn as pip has clearly stated he will be leaving if it doesnt work.
If I was a shareholder of VM I would be asking the specific question why is cash been thrown away in this manner.

Re: Vmng300
good good good
we know that in most companies CS=BS and they sell you rubbish
three VM employees have told you not possible, im sure if it turns out to be possible they will all apologise, if you end up cancelling VM, you should be appologising to the three of them (and me for wasting my time)
i am interested in the quality of bt infinity so please let us know
...and by the way, put your hand bag away
