Vmng300
I had an interesting call from retentions a few minutes ago.
As some of you may know I'm due to go to BT Infinity on 4th April.
As a non-gamer my requirements are mostly upload speeds and BT Infinity was the cheaper option for me, along with free install and free calls.
After a long call with retentions and expressing my opinion of the plooperhub I now have the surprising option of the following.
Don't let the install engineer take my modem (remove and hide it if necessary), let him install the plooperhub, disconnect it and experiment with the VMNG300 to see if it will achieve 100Mb speeds.
If so I can decide to carry on with VM, if not I carry on with the BT install on the 4th April.
From VM's stance so far I'm totally gobsmacked! I did not ring them, they rang me.
Happens on the 30th I will report back on my findings, I will put the modem through the paces as well!

Not sure how they expect that to work
For a device to pick up the broadband, it has to be registered on the account. Once the SuperHub is installed it replaces the modem on the system meaning it won't work
No amount of 'experimenting' will help

Re: Vmng300
They assured me that I could re-connect the VMNG300 after the engneer left and "experiment".
I don't really care as I can keep the BT Infinity install and cancel VM.

So how have others been able to re-connect their modems when the plooperhub has gone toes up?

It's not going to work.

If you are getting 100Mbit installed on the basis of what you were told in the original post, I would cancel VM now

Because the SuperHubs have been take off the account and the VMNG300 put back on
That's not going to happen with 100Mbit.

Re: Vmng300
Ben,
The company you work for contacted me and what I posted is what I was told, advised, call it what you will.
You don't seem to realise I don't care! If it happens, it does and all well and good.
If it doesn't roll on April 4th!!!
Now what part of that don't you understand?

Re: Vmng300
sorry but I have to laugh, VM's staff on here, anything to do with the superhub is comical.
it has nothing wrong with it
it will never be replaced
no one will ever be authorised to use alternative equipment
I have never seen any past VM equipment defended with such effort before.
I guess you lucky pip you already have a vmng300 so as such it is easier for you to keep that then for a new customer to get one.

Re: Vmng300
Well Chrys I do wonder.
Ben is allegedly somewhat higher in the VM chain than others who post on here.
However I shy away from calling anyone a lier (doesn't look right! someone who tells lies!)
My original post was based on what I was told by UK retentions. As I said, I've nothing to lose. If the OP is wrong then Bye Bye VM!
The only reason I agreed to it was it gives me a 4 day window to see if it works!
When Ben gets his head round that he may come back or Nopanic may get out of his lab and tell me it's impossible!
Noanic likes having a go at me !!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Vmng300
Don't ever believe that if you go to BT Infinity you are stuck with their HomeHub!
Infinty comes with a modem!

WTF are you waffling on about ?
Ben is right, the old modem will be disconnected when the tech puts the new modem on. There is always the chance something will go wrong and he'll have the old one left active .. but I wouldn't offer it as an option to a customer ..
Regardless of if you care or not, its rubbish.

Re: Vmng300
Wooooooooooooo, I rattled your cage!
So, what you have now said means you're rep's (in retentions) are misleading customers who wish to leave VM for whatever reason.
What I have put in the OP is what I was assured of, I realise you were answering Chrys's remark but would appreciated a response about my OP.
End of story was I told and advised true or false???????????????/
BTW nice to see you out of the lab!

Yes it will work! Cos I am using VMNG300 modem and superhub both still working! The specialist tech put two registered mac address on my account.
