BT vs SKY vs Virgin

Interesting article on a comparison between the 3 main tv services.
They review Virgin with the Tivo service and it comes out on top

I think you need to read the article again as they don't appear to review Tivo at all, they say:-

"Watch this space for Reg Hardware’s forthcoming review of this TiVo unit."

They recommend V+ though but it dosen't come out on top as they rightly acknowledge the services reviewed are so different and it depends what services you require.

Re: BT vs SKY vs Virgin

The review is page 6 and it is a review of V+HD.

Page 2 is telling you about what services Virgin do, where it mentions Tivo. That is not a review.

Oh for god sake, why don't you read the first post, this is a review of the 3 tv services, at no point do i say it's a review of Tivo, why the hell do i bother bringing interesting things to read to this forum if people just comment with stupid remarks

Quote taken from pag2 2

"The TiVo-powered DVR is a new premium option, costing £199 upfront, excluding installation, and £2 extra on top of the required XL subscription – but look out for future promotions.

The TiVo has a 1TB hard drive and ‘time travelling' programme guide to scour upcoming schedules or delve into last week for catch-up broadcasts. It has extensive searches by title, keyword, genre, actors or directors. Personalised searches are stored in wishlists, for example, to always record anything directed by Danny Boyle or starring Jeff Bridges. It also learns what you like and suggests other things. TiVo has its own 10Mbps internal modem and a separate subnet to avoid congesting your broadband speed."

Hmmmm if i'm not mistaken it is talking about the tivo service, again i didn't say it was a review of TIVO i said it's a review of the tv services

Well then post properly. You say in you opening post:-

'They review Virgin with the Tivo service and it comes out on top'

It dosen't even review Tivo.

And it dosen't say any service comes out on top either, it merely recommends V+. Read the closing page.

They are totally different services which it quite rightly says.

"They review Virgin with the Tivo service and it comes out on top"

That is different to saying "They review Virgin and it comes out on top. They also talk about Tivo"

So far, 2 people have commented in this thread and both have taken your words as meaning the same thing

It dosen't
He's an idea, why don't you just read it and make up your own mind and not moan about weather it's a full review or not geez, you sound like a child when you moan about pointless things like that

Besides, they give BT 70% Sky 75% and Virgin TV SERVICE 80% so yes it does come out on top

Actually, each of the review pages have scores at the bottom. The BT service gets 70%, Sky+ with anytime+ gets 75% and Virgin V+HD (not Tivo) gets 80%

The point is you say it's a review of Virgin with Tivo, which it isn't. If you'd said it was a review of V+HD, then no problem

I know but the summary basically says it depends what you want, which is of course right.

How they can use their review rating as a comparison and recommend one given their own summary is beyond me.

It isn't even a partial review, there is no review whatsoever of Tivo.

"They review Virgin with the Tivo service and it comes out on top" is nonsense.

I enjoyed the article though, thanks for the link but I have nothing else to add.

Re: BT vs SKY vs Virgin

I have to say it would be nice if we perhaps read each others posts before posting our own comments.
From my own experiences I know it avoids unnecessary arguments and less egg on face.

Re: BT vs SKY vs Virgin

It is near impossible to review services like these as each individual wants different features VM and BT Vision have strong OD products VM being the strongest with HD and Sky has a strong linear lineup so it's more personal preference.
