From VM's email:

At Virgin Media, our customers come first. That’s why we’d like to offer you the chance to order your TiVo service before it goes on sale to the rest of the Great British public which we expect to be in April. What’s more, we’ll make sure you’re first in the queue to have your service installed, with priority installation, just for Virgin Media customers.

Re: TiVo
The original Tivo video is still available on Virgins website:
http://tivo.virginmedia.com/
The girl doing the demonstration clearly states, "There's a way you could be One of the first in line to get one of these at launch, think of it as a reward for your enthusiasm". She then advises you should register your interest.
What she doesn't clearly state is "If you register you will definitely be one of the first in line even before it launches".
Why are people still getting worked up over this? If you registered your details back in December then you will still be one of the first in line when the product launches. Virgin haven't lied to anyone have they?
Even when you fill in the form it states "Enter your details below to be the first to find out more." Again it doesn't suggest by filling in the form you will definitely be the very first to receive Tivo.
I have posted previously to suggest the treatment people where receiving who pre-registered was poor however I've changed my mind about this after reading through the TIVO press release, looking back at the Tivo web-page and through the small print.
The only thing Virgin are guilty of, in my humble opinion, is they didn't release another press statement to confirm Tivo wasn't being rolled out from mid December.

I did, I got the full package with premium channels in HD,phone line and 100 meg broadband. I've only just signed up from sky.

As far as I know, but they may extend it to saturdays to get everyone done quicker.

That's what I was thinking. There would be no advantage for VM to sign a Sky customer up before VM pre regs.

Re: TiVo
I keep thinking VM may announce some HD channel deals before they open it to new customers to tempt Sky customers over.

Do you mean customers who haven't pre-registered?

It's possible but reading the rest of his posts, he seems genuine. If he is genuine, maybe it's a 'one-off' that slipper through?
So, will the pre-reg people be installed starting April, or will pre-reg installs start in Marck?

Of course there would be an advantage, a huge one at that.
A pre-reg getting tivo gives them a whole extra £3 a month, a new customer gives them anything up to over £100 a month.
If someone phones up saying they want to switch from sky but only if they can get tivo immediately then are VM really going to turn down £100 a month to instead get £3 a month off a pre-reg?
From a purely business perspective there is no reason at all why VM would ever want to prioritise installing to existing customer, the incremental increase on their subs just isn't that big a factor compared to the potential new revenue from a new customer. The people who'd threaten to leave if they heard someone getting it first are either a) all mouth no trousers, or b) going to leave eventually anyway.
If you're that determined to get tivo you're following who's getting it on the forums you're hardly going to switch to sky who have a worse epg than the current v+ one are you?
People really are kidding themselves if they think that the prioritisation is anything more than VM wanting a bigger test bed. It's not a reward for loyalty or anything like that, it's purely an extended trial to ensure when they do open it to the public the responses to it are as positive as possible. They don't want people switching to VM then going "this aint that great", they want people to be blown away by it, so they're using the existing user base to refine the experience.
