Ok Ben I am now totally confused after speaking to CS again. The woman is trying to tell me that I am on VIP but not VIP(20) which is where I am entitled to a VHD box. She was happy to put me on this but it would put my bill up a couple of £'s/mo. I couldn't enen argue this one - never heard this one before and it has blown my mind.

To be honest mate, you are probably best going for the VIP50 package from a value point of view anyway. You get the 50 meg broadband and the Sky Premier HD channels for only a fiver more than the VIP20.
I'm not sure if phoning them back and asking to go up to that package would aid you in getting the free activation.

I am not trying to get anything for free - I am just trying to get what I am told I am entitled to as part of the VIP package. What puzzles me is I am being told that I have an inferior version of the VIP package whichn I have had since its inception. Just when has a gap appeared between VIP + VIP20?
I understand your point about the VIP50 though by the sound of it to increase ny inferior VIP package would cost more
I despair

You should definitely be having your HD box activated for nothing even on the VIP20 package.
I just thought it worth mentioning about the VIP50 as it seems a far better deal. It's £100.55 a month after the price increase in April.

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package
A HUGE thank you to Merrik in retentions and our own Ben who sorted the issue out for me.
Firstly the young lady (Helen I think ) was misinformed re the VIP packages)
Merrik spent alot of time looking at this but still thought I probably would need to pay £50 activation fee. After reading the posts on cableforum he emailed Ben who pointed him in the right direction.
so sorted + thanks guys.

V+HD Box
It looks like I'm paying around £58 for this (unsure as my last bill had £149 Tivo cost added to it) and not taking into any upcoming price increases but around £58.
As there is only one child still in the house I was hoping to kill off our Sky boxes and switch to Vip50 which would give us most of the programmes by adding in Sports and Movies (inc the HD option where available). We would also be getting a decent BB increase to 50meg.
What should I be expecting, pricewise, before I ring up?
Am I tied to a minimum term?
Do I still receive an additional HD box (I already have an additional V+HD)
Just looking for a few ideas before I ring and start messing the staff about by getting them to look at all options.
Thanks for any pointers.

Sorry if it bad form to quote oneself but has anyone any idea's on this . . .
Reading through the previous few pages I presume the Vip50 costs about £96-£100 and you just take whats in the package, is that correct?
But what about length of term and number of boxes?
And does already having the Tivo make any difference.
Thanks in advance.

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package
The question is; why don't CS know the correct pricing?
I never ring CS to change things without coming on forums first to get the correct pricing; CS have told me the incorrect price on at least one occasion.
Surely this is unaccceptable?
Thanks to Ben and others like him, I'm not paying more than I should do. But not all VM customers use forums; how many of them have been over chaged?

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package
Yes does seem to be a problem with CS. I wanted a HD box and am on VIP50. Got quoted 3 different prices until I went through to retentions and shouted at them about the whole thing.
Got the box sent to me and activation free.

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package
I agree that giving wrong pricing isn't acceptable, which is why I keep saying to anyone that does think that's the case to escalate the call. Without you doing so, then the circumstace of why the wrong information was given can't be identified
I would point out that it's not always the advisor that is at fault

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package
Ben, Devilincarnate, & Knack,
I have been busy this morning but just to let you know I ordered the VIP50 bundle this afternoon, with installation scheduled for morning of 9th March 2011.
Dialled 150 as suggested and, from the accent, I got through someone in India, who to be fair was pleasant and helpful. Initially told me that there was only one box with the package but after investigating further confirmed two boxes (V HD & V+ HD Box) and accepted my request to upgrade the V HD Box to V+ HD Box, so two of the later. He confirmed no HD Activation fees with VIP50 package.
The post April cost according to him is £116.80 pm, my calculation was £110.55 pm, and I’m not sure where he gets the extra £6.33 – maybe I’m wrong. He went off twice to check the price and was adamant that it was £116.80 but with a six month discount of £12.25 pm. There is also a £40 installation fee.
I’m not unhappy as I fully expected to pay an installation fee and the six month discount is a bonus. The extra £6.33 irritates me but only because I’m mystified by it. I will know more once the paperwork comes through and maybe it will even be £110.55 pm by then, who knows. I will escalate it if its wrong but in any case the discount just about covers the difference. In the meantime, if anyone can through any light on the extra £6.33, I’d be obliged – even if you tell me my calculations are wrong.
Once again many thanks for your help.

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package
I would wait and see what the contract says. If it's still wrong a posting of the services listed should help identify where the extra is coming from (contracts no longer show the individual lines which cause all the confusion but match how Virgin now quote their pricing)

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package
Isn't it about time the details of the new VIP package/packages were released? I seem to remember in December that we were told the specifics would be given "early in the new year" or words to that effect.
I appreciate that a lot of time and energy must be going into the TiVo launch, but surely all the necessary prices and packages could be published, even if it was made clear that they wouldn't come into being for another month or two. At least that way people can decide if they either want, or can afford the package and will know where they stand.
I really feel VM need to pull their finger out on this one and give us the information ASAP!

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package
Considering the new VIP bundles likely include a TiVo option it's unlikely they could be detailed without giving away details of the TiVo rollout.
So I reckon we'll see details at the same time as TiVo is avaliable to everyone
