Re: Avast! Free Antivirus 6.0
argghhh its added an extra layer of nag.. The sandbox although a good idea do not nag me .It also appears to have slowed down opening of programs even when you tick remember. Will look into disabling the sandbox feature seeing as I have sandboxie for that anyway
Its easy to disable

Re: Avast! Free Antivirus 6.0
Since the last 2 updates of v5 and the v6 BETAS (free versions) I've had quite a few problems with avast! In v5 it was the Web Shield blocking internet access (same happened on a mates PC) and in v6 BETA the Behaviour Shield wouldn't let trustedinstaller.exe run for windows updates, had to manually add it to the Trusted Processes list!!!
I'm currently running v6 BETA b6.0.986 so will try the official release and see what it breaks/fixes!!

You can see it on the second picture in this link, it is part of the windows sidebar, i did turn it off in the sidebar but it has come back, maybe it is a sandbox or something?

Just figured out how to get rid of it, you go to add remove programs, click change Avast and then untick the avast gadget box.

Re: Avast! Free Antivirus 6.0
I'm with you now, I turned it off ages ago so it didn't register what you meant. They also had a message in the v6 Betas that came up after the 'Starting Windows' text on Win7 that said 'Protected by avast! Antivirus', not seen it on the release version though!

Re: Avast! Free Antivirus 6.0
It's a hard coded message located in the C:\Windows\System32\aswSP.sys file so you can't 'turn it off'!

Re: Avast! Free Antivirus 6.0
Last night Avast stopped me browsing again?
I updated to the release version 6.0.1000 when it was out and it's been running fine, even when I updated to SP1 x64 for Win7, but now the Web Shield has started blocking http again???
Downloaded the 6.0.1044 Beta and installed that and now I get a 30-60 second long pause before it initially connects to a website , once it's connected it seems fine but every time I load up IE9 for the first time it's this 'long pause before connect' issue?
Think it's time to look for another free AV, and not that bloated AVG either!!

Well I hadn't until last night, then the Avast Malware activated and blocked all http traffic
I know people who use Avast and have the same issue, I also know people who own Xbox 360's and never had the RROD and even people who believe they've seen Elvis and been abducted by aliens!! Just because it hasn't happend to you doesn't mean it can't
