The reason that the S1 customers got offered TIVO first was due to contractual obligations, but i have to agree with that the rollout could have been planned a bit better.
We are only the customers who are allowed to complain about it but we are not able to change anything so what is the point of having a rant about it.

Marcus, just because you don't want to be a VM customer doesn't mean the majority of other people feel the same as you. Plus you were a short term customer who has come and gone so I'm not sure how you know what long term customers feel.
Tivo is an optional product that has no bearing on the actual linear content viewing of the customer. It is a physical piece of hardware that costs VM money. So I don't see how your grievance is valid as you expected it for free but no one gives out their hardware for free on a permanent basis.

As I have tried to point out before this still isn't a full launch. They are going for the biggest paying customers first to start off with, and then once there is a full launch TiVo will be available to all customers and also new customers will be able to sign up. VM haven't left anyone in the dark or alienated anyone at all.

I think that should be left to the customers to decide..
I'm in the dark as to what's happening, i'm also a top paying customer and have been for 7 years, and i feel alienated and unappreciated.
Not so much as an email in 3 months is crap IMO.

but that is wrong isnt it ???? not just the highest paying but all existing customers who registered are supposed to get an offer BEFORE it goes on general release to new customers ....
i know you like the 'it isnt released yet' line and technically you may be right it isnt launched to order and at the moment it is by invitation only but they did say those existing customers who registered (no implication of highest paying) would be looked after before new customers ...
no idea on their selection criteria but a lot of VIP50 customers have yet to have any contact while XL customers have been so no idea if its on overall highest specced package or simply those who spend the most on extra boxes and phone calls
lack of knowledge of the 'invitation' selection process just leads to speculation especially when some customers have had several invites and others have had none

I am a VIP50 with extras and registered on the first day, but no call.
Maybe it is possible that they can only call areas where enough engineers have been trained for installation. No point calling you if they can't install it yet.

VM are still in a pre release state so as yet you aren't really in the dark as they still haven't announced the full launch date.
They are currently working through the pre registered list of customers and are calling everyone as soon as they can.
At the end of the day, you will get TiVo soon. Just be patient and it will come. Stopping worrying that you won't be contacted. There are bigger more important things that people should be bothered about than 'when will I get TiVo'

Surely its just swapping out boxes, power lead, hdmi lead, and arial that dont take two minutes, cant see what qualifications you need for that, channel changing and recording is what customers will want to know how to do, everything else you pickup as you go along or leave a quick start guide, its not rocket science honest ........... they'll tell you otherwise.

AFAIK there are only certain techs being trained on TiVo installs. They are trying to make sure that for a premium product you get a really good install experience and they can walk you through the product before they leave. I am not sure about current installs but I am sure that is the plan for full launch.

nope, will probably take 1.5 - 2 hours minimum. Theres lots to check and fine tune.
The download from TiVo Centre takes a good part of that up.

Correct again DF, that is what takes the most time the download takes the longest time.
You HAVE GOT TO change the default freq and default symbol rate in the diagnostic, even if they are set correctly out of the box or the box wont hit and come on.
Power levels have to be absolutely spot on.

The install tech had to go to our DP and adjust our levels too
Our install took 3 hours as it was his 2nd install ever of TiVo and he wanted to get it right.
I'd had TiVo training, but the tech was getting me to test all the features to make sure everything was working correctly. A really good customer experience.

why so long on update with a 10mb dedicated line, shouldn't these boxes be updated before install to cut down on time.
