YES THATS RIGHT KIDS A WHOLE LOT MORE MONEY FOR A WHOLE LOT LESS CONTENT.

It wouldn't have been difficult for you to research what Virgin offers before you signed up with an 18 month contract.

Loss of channels ?
Oh you mean the ones Sky have cancelled from both platforams....
Hardly VM's fault.
And a statement form the CEO that 80 HD channels will be here with 3 years IIRC is hardly a vague promise.
Simple anwer is if you don't like VM then vote with your feet and either go to Sky or drop Pay Tv.
And VM are not trying to sell to Sky Subscribers they are trying to sell to everyone. Why people think Sky Subscribers are the target I don't get, its easier to sign up those who have no PayTV than those who already have a contract with Sky.

ANYWAY............I sacked the idea of getting tivo and went back to skyHD.Now I just need to keep VM for 6 months as after that the disconnection fees are greatly reduced.R
But I didnt realise how much I missed SKY-ARTS in HD. It really is one of the channels that bennefits from HD THE MOST.
Ooh and it also seems VM see fit to give some of there customer FREE TIVO BOXES AND FREE LIFE TIVO SUBS.......It seems the price of tivo for you and me subsidies 1000's of users getting it free. Now that is something I'm not willing to be part off.
|
I suppose the lesson is you should research what any provider offers before joining. I guess you wouldn't have known too much about Tivo's pricing when you joined though.
We have been assured more HD is coming so hopefully that will materialise but I agree regarding Sky Arts HD, we have been assured it is coming albeit about 7 months ago so here's hoping.
If you activated existing kit with Sky you may find you are not tied to a new contract so if things change with VM you may be able to easily cancel Sky and avoid the two subscriptions, just a thought.

80 channels could be considered a bit speculative as of course 80 HD channels dont currently exist but if it happens all well and good.
It will be interesting to see how 80 HD channels would fit in with VM's current pricing structure though. I have always thought that as more and more HD becomes available VM's pricing structure could become a bit of a millstone around their neck but maybe when HD is considered the norm that argument will wane and extra charges will be banished, I hope so.
They certainly seem to need to get their skates on to back claims like that up given certain channels that were announced months and months ago are still absent but i'm more than happy to give them the benefit of the doubt, for now.

Re: TiVo
Why is there so much hate for VM and Tivo surely it's good to see VM investing so much in future technolgy??
Seriously, why bother?

Re: TiVo
I think customers should be able to scrutinise the services they pay for, I wouldn't call it hate myself unless it's blindly biased.

Re: TiVo
People are scrutinising services they don't even have, that just seems silly to me.
Complaining how much it costs, you either want it and pay for it or you don't. From experience VM have always been very fair with pricing for all their products, not biased just honest.

Oh dear, seem to have ruffled your feathers Sir. If so I apologise.
I am with Sky as posted here. I think the CEO's statements/press releases are vague - three (3) years... Goodness knows what Sky will be offering then!
I do hope to return to VM one day.
Perhaps I should cease posting here.

Re: TiVo
so are we expecting some sort of valentines day message / statement / comment from VM ?
wonder if its lucky lotto mk II week or some other weird not so wonderful surprise that no one knows about until peeps post on forums ... cant say the first tivo lotto was my idea of a publicity stunt as only those on forums knew about it as far as i can tell
im still of the opinion i wont have tivo unless its free (dont think i will miss it if i dont get it) but as a VIP50 (previously vip20 for 4 years) customer i personally have still to get any contact from VM apart from the 'thanks for registering your interest' email back in December
early frustration has turned to disappointment with VM at what i perceive as poor handling of the whole existing customer roll out

I might be wrong but can't you cancel VM even in contract because of the price increase? I think you get 28 days from notification of the increase or something like that.

I'm in the same boat, i had VIP since it launched, and just upgraded to VIP50 in november.
I'm beginning to wonder if all this has to do with contracts, and if you recently renewed to a new 12 month contract in the last few months we're last on the list.
Even an email to say it should be here in a month or so would be nice but so far nada.

Re: TiVo
the big sell point for me would be if you can program the TiVo to record remotely from my laptop or android phone
I think the Sky box can be setup that way
I read somewhere that the TiVo delivery will all be IP addressed based so presumably that could be done if the software is written
