That's awesome news! Congrats!
That is exactly what I am wanting to do with my V+ box so it's good that is all they're charging. Next Wednesday is a good date, quite soon!

It doesn't have to have launched for people to get installed with it.

OK so we are at pre-launch .... and the proper launch will be April and open to the general public ... i understand that and dont have any problems regarding that as its plain simple and already known ....
what is lacking is a definate 'what is happening now' as VM promised to look after existing customers first and yet they apparently have no real pattern to how they are doing that. Whether you accept someone with an instal date for existing packages but not yet actually installed as being an existing customer is debatable and only VM can answer to that one
existing customers (especially those on this forum) know the product is available but only to those chosen so far and cannot be ordered otherwise , but those that have had no contact are getting frustrated and restless that there appears to be no set pattern of the way peeps are contacted (VM probably know what the pattern is they just havent told anyone) and the only line we get from yourself (not a personal go at you) is that the product isnt launched yet ... bang wall head against springs to mind ..
ok thats my opinion and i know lots will disagree which i can accept ... and right now ... i dont want tivo , i wont pay for tivo , but i would appreciate VM at least considering me valued enough to call and ask me

All I have been trying to say is that is it is a pre launch VM don't really have to tell you exactly whats going on.
Imagine for a moment that it was 15 yrs ago and the internet and social media still didn't really exist. If VM was launching a new service they would do their pre launch installs and activities and it would go by pretty much unnoticed until the full release when advertising would start.
I think they must have been hoping the same would happen now, however with people posting in forums stating they are getting it for this price and installed on this date, other people are then wanting the same and feeling annoyed when they don't get offered it.
For example when the Nintendo DS got released originally, I was contacted by Nintendo and offered a pre release DS 1 month before its actual release. I think there were only a few hundred people that were offered this. Am sure if they tried it now lots of people on forums would claim that its unfair and want to know why they weren't offered the same deal.
Companies always do pre release offers and special deals to get some of their products out and in the wild before release so people can talk about it and get it spread by word of mouth.
That is what VM is doing with TiVo. So don't get upset if you don't get a call or don't get TiVo straight away. They will call you and get you TiVo as soon as they can.

Re: TiVo
We were talking about the launch of TVdrive on forums 5-6 years ago, that wasn't such a farse as this has turned out to be.
But then again that was telewest and not VM, long before indian call centres and when you phoned up people either knew what you were talking about or knew who to ask.

Having no track record doesn't prove or disprove anything.
The only reason I ever looked at Virgin Media is because TiVo and XXL broadband. Were it not for those, I would never have considered (in the same way as I never considered Sky): the STBs they offer are dinosaurs, with appalling user experience and features. As I stated in another post in this very thread, I've had a Freeview STB for 4 years that puts all of them to shame (and still might the TiVo one, but by a smaller margin).
I work in the field of Digital Media and Online Video and therefore have known about the TiVo (as a concept) for years. When I did hear VM was going to adopt it, that (and BB XXL) tipped the balance in favour of getting an overpriced contract with VM (even though the customer service is know to be bad, compared with my existing broadband supplier).
I did enquire about how to get it for months. I pre-registered my interest as soon as the form appeared. About the same time, I registered with this forum in order to follow the trends. You yourself did reply to some questions I had a few weeks back. I followed your advice and did order a bundle with XL TV in readiness, knowing that XL customers who pre-registered would get it before others, and that it would be a quicker way to getting it. As soon as I got the account details, I refilled the pre-reg form with that information, in order to boost my chances.
So, there you go: I am a customer and I was when they called me. Yes, a new(er) customer, but a customer nevertheless, with an account ID. The fact that until this morning I hadn't got the service installed is completely irrelevant.
You can be annoyed all you want about VM's policy (or lack thereof, as if it was surprising with a large company), but don't take it on me. I have worked the system to my advantage (by design, but most likely by luck), and I feel the pain of those still waiting, but don't take it on me. I was looking forward to being part of the VM online community, but am starting to regret it.
And no, I still can't prove it. How could I possible prove it until it's installed?

Re: TiVo
You're just dead lucky mate, its not you issue but VM. However if the selection is at random of all existing customers who have registered then that can include new customers like you.
Just appreciate there are some on here who are desperate to get their Tivo's so they may feel you've jumped the gun over others but not really. We all applied online at the same time and it is a lottery as to who is picked, there is no length of contract criteria so just a case of you being lucky, somebody is bound to be.
I'm still waiting for a call by the way.

I suspect there is a regional aspect to this. There is no point calling people if they haven't got enough boxes and enough trained installers in each area. From what I have seen posted, everyone is getting offered install dates in the next week, so this must be driving the order of who gets called.

Re: TiVo
I pre-regd on the VM TiVo page the day it went live and recently checked here to see that TiVo S1 owners were getting their own deal so registered again on the S1 link and got a call the next evening. I was out but the caller left a name and direct number with the wife saying to call back next day. So £149 debited but the next available install date in Glasgow is in March...?!
I bought an S1 TiVo in 2002, payed the £10 monthly fee and then coughed up the £199 for a lifetime sub and gave it to my folks when the TV Drive (V+) was launched.
