Re: TiVo
Just thought you may be interested in my experiences of the HD Virgin TiVo, which I had installed last Saturday on my blog. It has some videos of usage of the TiVo including performance of the box in the menus, YouTube features, search by actor features and other cool stuff

My Apps load instantly, not sure why yours is like that. Have you power cycled the box at all?

Re: TiVo
I am quite calm thank you very much , and i did not moan i just posted the facts as i have understood them so far and would appreciate if you didnt take that tone with a customer who has the right to post his or her views whether they coincide with yours or VM's official line or not...
this line of yours of it not being officially released yet is wearing very thin and although no official statement has been made the product is clearly on a national rollout and therefore should be considered launched when over 1500 people have either the product or a booking for instalation
as for whether customers who pay more deserve more ... i have never said there should be preferetial treatment for any group other than the longest loyal customers of which i am not one having been with VM for only about 5 years so stop quoteing my posts as if i were advocating anything more.
the thread from the community section although useful did not explain the procedure VM were taking just gave a little info on what had happened (after the event and people had started to express opinions) so far and teased about what maybe happening in some future time ..
I know these forums are not the whole picture and we only have a small snapshot of what is happening to a limited number of VM customers but as VM have failed to keep us upto date it happens to be our only source of info from which we have to draw our conclusions
as i have not broken any forum rules then i am entitled to moan , groan , whinge and whine as much as i want as well as praise if i see fit ...
OK i will zip it now and go back to lurking instead of contributing my opinions

Save your breath Cozzy some people just don't get it.
People being phoned 3 times, sounds like the system is working flawlessly

We try to say it as it is nothing more and we have no idea of a launch date as yet but I do know that it will be showcased at the Ideal Home Show March 11th to 27th along with our broadband and anyone can attend with 2 for 1 tickets by clicking HERE.
No need to lurk stick around and have some input.

Re: TiVo
Its not classed as being officially relelased because VM have never stated it is. The fact that they put the words pre-launch on the 1000 letters tells me its not officially launched yet, and will not officially be so until anyone can actively call VM or walk in to a VM store and order one.
That and all the marketing and advertising that will begin when officially launched. Also having over 1500 cant be classed as on a national rollout as there are more than 3 million TV customers out there, so very few people have them.
I am not taking any tone with any customer. I am posting in here as me not as a staff member. I am offering you my opinion of the situation.

That's what I'm afraid of as well. If they phone our house phone there is noone there during the day. Ah well, luck of the draw I guess!
On a different note, I notice some people have ordered two Tivo boxes. Obviously that incurs the £149 twice but does the monthly cost go up to £6 extra per month?

I would expect you to be charged £3 per month for each box that you order as it would make sense profit wise and you do pay per box for HD sports.

Have VM got your mobile number? If not call 150 and add it to your account. they will try you on your mobile then if you are out.
I'm not sure on the £3 charge. Might be per household.

As far as I can see, it isn't officially released yet, as much as people want it to be.
The only reason we know about the lucky pre-releasers is due to the social media we have available. Roll back 10 years and this sort of roll out would have gone almost entirely unnoticed until the provider wanted the public to know about it. And we certainly wouldn't see videos of it being used.
We are essentially scrutinising inside information. It's not relelased yet, some people are lucky enough to get to play with it first, and that's VM's perrogative.
And although VM don't want to say Beta, what the early birds are getting is at least like testing a gold release. And we know it's not the finished service that the general release will be, because 3 tuners is coming in March.
Patience people. Our time will come.

Well Said
Finally a sensible post from someone that clearly understands the current TiVo situation.

I shall do that DF, thank you I did put my mobile number on the pre registration form so hopefully that will help too.
I will get a Tivo box now (when/if I get the call) then possible add another one down the line when the initial cost drops. All this waiting makes me want more than one now. Dear oh dear - maybe that's their plan

When I was called back last night, I was lead to believe that my number had been generated again by the computer and not that it was an automatic call back.
