Speed up you PC boot time

I just saw this advertised on BBC Click

http://www.soluto.com/

It is a program that tells you how long your PC takes to boot, and then allows you to stop a program from bootting or pause it until after the boot.

It is relatively easy to use.

I got my boot from 3:58 to 2:09

Re: Speed up you PC boot time

Looks a bit like a more primitive version of Microsoft Bootvis, which was a great tool but didn't get updated past XP

Msconfig allows you to stop processes/programs loading as well.

Re: Speed up you PC boot time

I am on Windows 7 Ultimate and my machine boots up in about 60 seconds as it is, it is the broadband connection that takes a bit longer.

Re: Speed up you PC boot time

Been using Soluto on and off since the Beta (don`t know if it still is) and found that it didn`t find anything on my boxes. Good piece of software though, used to love the way the edge turned up..
What were the main things it saved time on Hom3r? Java, Apple and the like!

Re: Speed up you PC boot time

if I just turn my pc on and leave my pc boot time increases by 30 seconds as thats the multi boot menu countdown lol
Also my system has to initialise raid controllers

Are you guys obsessed with speed the same guys who will risk a dodgy overtake only to be caught up or even beaten at the first set of traffic lights or roundabout?

My system will most likely take 2 or more minutes to boot everything but it is configured efficiently so chances are although other systems may well boot quicker my system will catch up and over take when doing its work cuz of its efficient set up

Speed isnt always a good thing as your misses lol lol

Re: Speed up you PC boot time

I tried Soluto a while ago.

Initially it seemed a good alternative to manually pruning the start-ups but then I noticed the PC's were taking simply ages to shut down. I conferred with others I knew were using it and all agreed to finding the same.

I lost faith in it and after uninstalling shut down went back to normal.

So I'm back to doing it manually again.

Re: Speed up you PC boot time

HHHmmm mine takes ages to get all loaded up properly, but once it's there it's fine so I don't tend to worry about it.

Re: Speed up you PC boot time

Where are you timing the boot from? First switching on or from starting windows?
