TV (LCD) for XBox 360 info

Hi,

I am thinking about getting a HD (720) or Full HD (1080) LCD tv for my XBox 360 Elite, but I noticed nearly all the TV's I am looking as say 50Hz Frame rate.

But I am also aware that XBox 360 games need 60Hz to work.

Will a 50Hz Frame rate TV be ok, or do I need to look at 100Hz Frame rate TV's?

Also are there any good makes to get?

Just looked on Comet site, then went to manufacturer site and checked the manual and all 3 do 60Hz.

SAMSUNG LE32C53032" LCD TV - Full HD - Link (Comet)

LG 32LD49032" LCD TV - Full HD - Link (Comet)

SAMSUNG LE32C45032" LCD TV - HD Ready - Link (Comet)

I have put them in my choice order.
It is luck we have Comet's and Curry's in the same retail park.

They are all 60Hz capable from what I can see from the manufacturer site.

You really need Rockabillyspike to give you some advice here.

I have a 50" LG Plasma and I am very happy with it but LCD are usually better for gaming.

Re: TV (LCD) for XBox 360 info

they are all fine for your xbox, the 100hz refresh rate can give you less motion blur on fast moving stuff (a downside of LCD) but on a hidef console like that it should be OK.
its just up to you.
the LG will give you better sound.
i can't stand samsung's tinny speakers.
actually I don't like samsungs cheap tellys at all. nasty chav tat

The reason for Samsung being on the list I was told they are the best one to get, on the Xbox.com forum.

Thanks for the info

Re: TV (LCD) for XBox 360 info

hey i tells it as i sees it. who buys what etc.
samsung seem mega popular with the townie and chav (or charv as we in the north east call them)
i dunno why but it seems to be some status symbol among them to have some massive oversized samsung tv with a terrible pic!

i like their top and mid range stuff but the c450 plasma is awful. had a customer who's gone thru 3 all with a nasty buzzing power unit that was louder than the tv volume!
in the end he swopped for an LG.

i do like LG and Panasonic stuff a lot.
Sony is a bit overpriced for what they offer. Sharp stuff is making a nice comeback tho. been impressed with their LCDs and normally I don't rate large screen LCDs except for gaming.
to me a plasma looks like a proper TV. more like a hi def CRT
in the 42" and above, the LCD/LEDs just look over saturated and false. like watching TV on a giant PC monitor.
but its all down to preference.
plus I sell things like this for a living. salesmen are not to be trusted. we just want our commission. ask the taxi driver or pub expert

Re: TV (LCD) for XBox 360 info

Don't worry about 50Hz/60Hz. The TVs say 50Hz because that is what we use in the UK, but I don't think it's actually even possible to buy an HDTV in the UK that doesn't support 60Hz as well as 50Hz! Hell, even many/most CRTs supported 60Hz for some time before HD Ready TVs came about.

I have an LG 2262 1080p FullHD TV and the xbox looks the dogs.

It is running at 50 Hz.

Actually I don't think it's been possible to buy a TV in this country that's exclusively 50Hz since the early 90s. Most TV manufacturers would consider the amount of money they'd need to spend on the extra production line too much. Much cheaper to manufacture one set that can switch as appropriate.
