Re: TiVo
Quick one for the VM Techs...
My fingers have been twitching for 2 months now, whether to wait for TiVo to come out or to go ahead without it and then upgrade. I really need fast broadband urgently, but would rather go for a bundle.
So, yes, I know you can't tell us anything yet, but could you at least tell me:
- Am I better off waiting for TiVo to be out?
- Should I buy a bundle now (with XL TV) and then ask to upgrade to TiVo as soon as it is out? Will that be possible? Without costing me more than waiting?
Note that I registered my interest for TiVo pretty much as soon as the page appeared on the VM website.

It isnt known what bundles (if any) will be available when TiVo launches. It has been stated since initial announcement that existing customers will get priority on the boxes, so obviously taking services as a new customer would mean you would have to wait that little bit longer anyway.
You could take a bundle now and upgrade to TiVo when it becomes available, but obviously this would be at the existing customer price of £149 plus £40 install with an additional £3 a month on top of whatever your bundle tariff would be.

Re: TiVo
Get a standard stb and get an upgrade later, there will be no deals for TiVo. Standard price only

Hi, We've had an amazing response to our TiVo launch and are making good progress with installs, prioritising a range of existing customers as well as staff that have been involved with the project. Installations for our new TiVo powered service require specially trained teams, but we're working through them as quickly as we can.
In the meantime; please register on http://www.virginmedia.com/tivo - we'll be in touch as soon as we're able to progress with your install.
I'm sure you can all appreciate why TiVo is being rolled out at such a rate - We'll be in touch with more info
Cheers

Re: TiVo
Apart from Virginmedia staff, do any regular customers have the Tivo yet?
The reason I ask is that not all Virginmedia customers use forums.

Re: TiVo
We should know when customers get Tivo as staff on here will have the gags removed and, judging by the build up that's been created here, the second an official annoucement is made this thread will be flooded!

dont know i quoted this from a sofa member
Quote:
I have just been speaking to a VM installer this morning,my V+HD STB had packed up again, he said he was on a tivo course the other day and was told the main rollout will not be until june!!
However he did say that VM are trying to "rush-out" (his words), Tivo to 6000 existing VM customers!!
The price he was told will be £99 for existing VM customers and £199 for non-VM`ers, but no word on monthly or VIP pricing.
He also said that there will be two units , one with a 320 GB capacity with sum of the functions disabled and the "big daddy" 1TB with the full premium Tivo service.
It takes 20 minutes to download all of the software at the initail setup of the Tivo. The time is so long he said because the download is coming from the Tivo servers in america!!

and the reply from v.m staff was this
