I can't get any connection via my iPhone in the next room.
Are there any tips/tricks I should know with this Superhub?

Yeah, don't use it. :P
Seriously though, I know what you mean. When using the wireless N dongle the reception is laughable. Having the router one floor above the computer with the dongle, nearly directly underneath and one ceiling to go through (say ten feet distance, point to point) about three bars and 160Mbps is average. If I take my laptop which fares better (seems to sit on 300Mbps regardless of signal strength) I'm lucky to get one or two bars by the time I'm standing at the front door, around fifty feet point to point. I can imagine older houses with thicker walls would be even worse.

The Super Hub is a joke - a complete joke. Can't wait to receive the VMNG300 cable modem in the post. I need my upload to exceed the average 0.3Mbps...

Has someone told you that they are sending out a VMNG300 modem in the post? as the is no option to do so and you are more likely to receive a standard modem so do not hold your breath.
You may actually receive an Ambit 256 or a Cisco EPC2100 and both are only 20Mb capable.

Yeah, I phoned UK support and they confirmed the VMNG300. It would be very cheeky to send me a modem incapable of the connection I'm paying for. The engineer who was at my flat could have given me one but I was hesitant to give away the Super Hub - silly me!
Anyway, I called earlier to cancel the whole connection, even prior to receiving the modem. My service is appalling and appalling Broadband service is the only thing I cannot accept. I appreciate a lot of people are ok but my particular case was very frustrating. I've now signed up with Be Broadband for good, old ADSL!
How much do you want to bet I get better upload speeds and general connection stability?

Re: Virgin to give new Superhub out.
Is the strenghth of the the wifi signal from the Superhub a known problem?
It is literally only good enough in the room the router is situated in. OK, it's located next to the TV so there may be interference issues (I have tried all 13 of the channels though) but so was my old 4 year old Netgear router and I got full wifi strength throughout the house.
Is there anything tech support can do to fix this problem, or will I have to get a different router from Virgin?
It's so frustrating. Grrr.

As I said we have never had the option to send out VMNG300 modems from day one and we always have to send an engineer out to replace them and I should know as I am one of the original 50Mb Support Team agents so please let us know if you receive the correct modem.

I've tried WPA- Auto, WPA2-AES and disabled. I've got inSSIDer installed as well and my router is not the strongest signal even when I'm in the same room!
What's the general impression of the wifi range of these routers? Surely they can't be this bad as a rule?

Re: Virgin to give new Superhub out.
Grrr... Typical!
I'll give Virgin a call tonight, is there a direct number I can call for modem/router problems rather than going through the 150/151 waiting hell?
