Re: 20 Mb/s to 30Mb/s free upgrade
Has there been official confirmation of the upload speed, will it be 2mb or 3mb?
I really wish they would give the faster speed on my ambit 256, i already have a linksys wireless n router with dd-wrt firmware on it, i don't need a wireless modem! Virgin should give the option of a free doscis2 modem or a £30 doscis2 modem/wireless router. I won't be paying £30, i'll just stick with 20mb and hope that they drop the charge soon.
Will new customers be getting these modems for free? Why on earth they are giving doscis2 routers instead of doscis3 is beyond me. What happens if the user wants to upgrade to 100mb in 1yrs time would they then need another new modem?
Will the upgrade be instant or will it go to only those who have already had the upload speed upgrade?
Update: this page says that the modem is capable of doscis3: http://shop.virginmedia.com/broadban...s-routers.html

Re: 20 Mb/s to 30Mb/s free upgrade
New users on 20mb, 30mb, 50mb and 100mb all get the same DOCSIS 3 (400mb capable) modem. They don't need another new modem.

Re: 20 Mb/s to 30Mb/s free upgrade
Is the £30 charge for the new modem/router all-in-one? And am i right in thinking that current Cisco/Ambit modems are quite capable with the 30/3 upgrade?

You will need a DOCSIS 3 capable modem for 30Mb.

Ok, cheers.
What will happen to current 20Mb that don't upgrade? Continue until the modems get replaced?

According to the website the £30 charge is to upgrade to 30mb. The modem/router is free.

Yes, in non upgraded areas it's 30mb d/s 1mb u/s and in upgraded areas 30mb d/s 3mb u/s in line with the 10:1 ratio of all tiers. Have also been on the tier for a few weeks and no issues whatsoever

Re: 20 Mb/s to 30Mb/s free upgrade
yeah thats logical
£75 for a super hub
or £30 for a super hub and 50% speed upgrade.
