Re: Virgin to give new Superhub out.
Service visits that require a modem swap should now get the superhub if on xl or higher. Came from high up, all techs were sent the mail. Like for like applies for s m and l bb

If you call in to faults and we diagnose that you have a faulty modem and we send out a replacement you will get a modem not a hub as that is all the system allows at the moment as you need a Hub code added to your account in order for us to be able to send one and at present we only do like for like.

Re: Virgin to give new Superhub out.
I'll be quite happy to recieve another modem if mine goes toes up. I would not be happy with a superhub.

Re: Virgin to give new Superhub out.
Not very happy bunny at all and felt so angry as Virgin Media had charged me another £75 for superhub on my billing in the post, I had already paid £75 online ebilling and why should I pay another £75 again by letter in post. THe letter had stated that I am now in a 12 months contract charged me XXL 50 meg broadband standalone £47 - that's wrong as it suppose to be £35 a month. The 12 months contract with the superhub £75 and installation charge £40.00 and activation fee £20.00. Total payment £182!!

Re: Virgin to give new Superhub out.
Have you checked the full bill to make sure your credits and payments made are there?

Unless you send a technician who will swap it for a superhub

Re: Virgin to give new Superhub out.
What happened to like for like. Kinda make a mockery of having charged users for routers in the past who were customers before the free hand out of them to new customers.

Re: Virgin to give new Superhub out.
Upgraded to the 20Mb package from the 10Mb, got the Super Hub.
It's a bad bit of kit. Considering it's meant for the power users you'd think it'd be better than this but it seems to fail. It actually made me appreciate just how powerful and reliable DD-WRT is.
I could go into detail, but for whatever reason it drops the wireless all the time. Because I need a lot of the extended features DD-WRT offers it's not even the main router any more (my WRT54GS is still good enough to handle it, using the original old Ambit 250 blue NTL badged modem) but it still manages to drop the connection intermittently even with the Virgin badged USB dongle. Several different devices do the same.
Sure I've messed with the firewall and flood options (currently only Ipsec PassThrough, PPTP PassThrough, Multicast, Port Scan Detection are enabled) but it doesn't seem to help. Sooner or later the wireless N drops and a power cycle is required.
I'd really prefer a seperate modem so I could put DD-WRT on a wireless N capable main router. Those HAVE to be the first in line for various reasons, not least of which is the WOL daemon which allows me to access data on various computers when away from home.
So yes, not that impressed. This is before I even get into the fact it resets after every single Static DHCP entry (you can't do several at a time and then reboot) the short login timeout which cannot be changed or the clunky "easy" frontend and Virgin badging with those lovely aliased images.
What I'm saying is, I consider it a punch in the face to the very people who would find it useful - i.e. those wanting the ultra high speed connection (I'm considering the move to 50Mb and maybe 100Mb when available in my area) to serve several different devices streaming on a bigger network. I have three SOHO routers on my network and it's by far the weakest.
It's a shame because other than this shoddy CPE the cable service has been brilliant, and with my own setup still is. I can't believe the massive performance drops I got when the Super Hub was first in line. I suppose I was just lucky that the MAC for the old blue NTL modem is still registered to my account so I was able to drop it straight back in, watching the immediate improvement using a BT client.

Yes I had forward that faxes off to virgin media billing dept and they had apology and ask me to ingorne the letter. As they can see I already paid £75 for the superhub and £20.00 activated fee. The installation charge of £40.00 is free of charge because it manual self install. The correct payment of service is £35 a month (not £47) because the letter think I had a virgin media phone line which I don't have it.

It's all Ben's fault, he runs VM
Seriously though you are quite correct. The "Superhub" appeals to the masses not those who are or will be the majority of the 50/100Mb users.

or if they are going to be handed out for customers with faults at some point, what about the customers that have paid £75 for one ?

Re: Virgin to give new Superhub out.
TBH, anyone who actually pays £75 for it is a bit special seeing as you get it for free with a new install or upgrade. £75 for a half-arsed bit of kit that you don't even own and you stay on the same package?...
The thing can't even count Upload/Download totals and reboots regularly.
