Like I said, 2x2 which means 300.
Like I said dual-band, which means both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz.
But also like I said single radio, so not both at the same time.

Re: Virgin to give new Superhub out.
I'm looking forward to the new firmware update as I would like to use dual-band mode for use with the laptop as it will use the full 300mbps connection and my HTC Desire aswell as the other halfs iPhone 3GS with the 2.4Ghz setting.

Re: Virgin to give new Superhub out.
I'm not sure the firmware update will allow use of both 2.4 and 5Ghz at once, no doubt Ben or someone will clarify.

Won't that be a hardware limitation?

That is correct, there is no firmware update that will allow dual radio.

Re: Virgin to give new Superhub out.
I'm disappointed to hear that the dual band mode will not be applied to the VM Super Hub. It's a great bit of kit but would love the faster comms between the laptop. Loving the download speed I get from a wired connection on my Xbox 360. I'm sure I downloaded a demo in about 5 mins the other day.

I suppose a workaround would be to have your main Wi-Fi network set to 5Ghz and have a guest network setup on the Super Hub for anything that operates at 2.4Ghz.

But I thaught it was a hardware limitation, i.e the hardware cant do two at once, its like making a v+ record 5 things at the same time, not possible.
You could make the superhub 5ghz mode and attatch another router to the superhub at 2.4

Re: Virgin to give new Superhub out.
Or just attach another AP, not a router.
But yeah, the principle would work quite well and is cheap - 802.11n 2.4Ghz APs and routers can be had for £10 or less, 5Ghz ones are considerably more. Set the Superhub to 5Ghz and get a cheapo one for 2.4.

Re: Virgin to give new Superhub out.
Oh well I've just got my replacement delivered a Ubee / Ambit EDM2500 for the 20mb service so it looks like there not giving out a superhub or even the normal hub if they have to replace a faulty modem. Looking after existing customers still seems their lowest priority.

Re: Virgin to give new Superhub out.
I was told by the tech guy I would be getting one but obviously they don't worry about existing customers and pass out the oldest junk they can get away with

Not true at all
Like for Like swaps are done in part to make sure that customers don't have to mess around setting their own equipment all over again.
You only have to look at the number of times people have to ask what to do when they have a V HD box installed instead of a SD box for whatever reason - due to the lack of RF out and a second Scart socket
Same applies for the Hubs. They may not do all that a customer's existing kit does - so forcing someone to change over is not in the best interests of customer service.
Eventually though, there will come a time when Virgin will only install Hubs due to them having no seperate modems left

But telling a customer that they would get one is a lot different to saying it'll be a like for like swap, that's what's annoyed me. It seems that there is a lack of common ground as to what various virgin staff tell the customer.
