Foreign Channels on Virgin
When I first had Telewest, we had Spanish, Italian, German & even a Russian channel. I used to pay extra for the French TV5 channel, which is now part of my XL package.
Are there any plans to reintroduce some? They were very useful for learning.
Please - no more sports channels!
This is an excellent Forum.

There is Euronews which provides additional french, german and spanish audio.
Cinemoi is a french language premium film channel which is free to view until the end of this month.
Of course there are various asian channels but I do not know if any new foreign language channels are planned.

Re: Foreign Channels on Virgin
Yes, I sometimes watch Euronews. Forgot about Cinemoi. Thanks for reminding me.
Is there a special Virgin website to look at, to see what's new or changed? Long gone are the days when Telewest used to produce a TV Guide brochure!
There seem to be a lot of Asian channels (on subscription). I wouldn't mind having one of those channels included in the XL package, as long as it had films with English sub-titles!

I would like to see Sat1 back from Germany - if only for the entertainment value of watching "Who wants to be a millionaire" in German!

I seem to remember getting SAT 3 and RAI uno back in the Nynex days, they were probably selved because of the need for evermore bandwidth on the old analouge service, that and also a low viewer base.

I know on Sky+ it used to deny you access, if you stopped subbing to the recorded channel (not sure if it still does?) but V+HD (and VM's TiVo) will let you access until you decide to delete.

That's right DF, The Sky+ box records an encrypted stream onto the HDD so unless your card has the correct entitlement it will not play, even if it was viewable when broadcast. NDS encryption is pretty clever like that.
