Virgin had a great 2010 however I do feel TIVO alone won't win them customers they need to ramp up there HD offering. Virgin don't yet have a kids channel in HD , documentary is lagging with only Discovery and NAt Geo HD , Virgin should concentrate on the non Sky owned HD channels , also they need to change there OD titles more.

Pretty much agree with all you say, Tivo isn't going to magically invent content and will always (in my opinion) be a niche product until it becomes the de facto VM platform. Let's be clear, less than 3 million homes in the US have Tivo although I accept the VM solution seems to be more complete in the sense it provides access to all current VM services unlike with Cableco's in the US where their existing on demand offerings cannot be viewed with Tivo.

Be careful what you wish for in the new year, remember Virgin Media are a monopoly as well, they don't let anybody else use their network infrastructure!!

From a customers point of view it wouldn't bother me if VM were made to open there network all I ask for is the chance to watch all channels on all platforms instead of this scenario now. Just wait until News Corp own all of Sky it's no secret Murdoch would like the BBC gone and possibly free view with everybody having to pay for news and TV.

Virginmedia is privately owned and construction was paid for by the owners unlike BT so it is quite unlikely that they will open their network to rivals.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010) Vol. IV
A little off topic however can anyone confirm if ITV2 HD, ITV3 HD and ITV4 HD are only available in England and Wales via SKY?
Just wondering if Virgin, when negotiating for the channels, will try and get Scotland and Ireland included in the deal.... unless ITV are just being mean

No ITV2 HD, ITV3 HD and ITV4 HD are broadcasting on Sky in Scotland.
Also ITV1 +1, UTV +1 and STV +1 launches on Virgin Media on January 11th.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010) Vol. IV
Thanks Media Boy, that's what I thought however on the SKY website at the bottom they state ITV1 HD, ITV2 HD, ITV3 HD, ITV4 HD are only available in England and Wales.
http://www.sky.com/shop/high-definit...e/hd-channels/
I was just wondering if Virgin were going to be landed with the same deal when negotiating with ITV for the channels however if SKY do carry them in Scotland and Ireland, then there shouldn't be any problems for Virgin trying to land them.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010) Vol. IV
I'm guessing that STV and UTV aren't too happy about ITV launching HD channels outside their official franchise area, so that's why they are restricted to England and Wales only

The bit that makes me laugh, the Daily Telegraph have completly dug themselves a huge hole in this affair, namely bugging Vince Cable in a constituency surgery session!
