LOSS OF SOUND. "No Audio Device"

I have lost the sound on my Mini Laptop and I can only get a notice telling me that there is "No Audio Device".. This does not allow me to tick the Box to put the Volume Icon into the Task Bar. Can anyone please tell me how to retrieve the Audio Device or do I need to take the Computer to the Supplier to do so. I am not very able in Computer knowledge.

And when it shows you a device with a yellow question mark icon you may want to re-install from the CD/ DVD media you should have received with it. Is this a netbook, if so what one and what operating system.

Re: LOSS OF SOUND. "No Audio Device"

Thankyou Scrubbs. In Device Manager the "Sound.video and game controllers" is showing a Yellow Exclam. mark which I cannot remove.

Paul. The Mini Computer is a "Compaq" CQ10" and it runs on Windows XP. The Yellow Exclam. mark shows on " IDT High Definition Audio Codec" following clicking on "Sound, video and game controllers" in Device Manager and from there I am not able to know the next move. No, there was no installation disk and the Supplier set-up everthing thing before I left the Shop. The computer was new.

Re: LOSS OF SOUND. "No Audio Device"

Go to the manufacturers website, select your model, and just re-install the audio sound driver.
Solves things in the majority of cases.

I, for one appreciate someone returning to a thread with feedback.
so many times someone comes on, asks a question then disappears. most disconcerting
