MAXSPEED video files

Can anyone help please. When I copy over a MAXSPEED.avi file of a film I have downloaded, onto a memory USB stick. I can then connect it to my Sony BRAVIA tv. Unfortunately whilst this procedure is usually successful with other avi file formats, my Bravia tv does not seem to like the MAXSPEED format. Is there a way that I can change the MAXSPEED file to a normal avi file as it would seem that the Maxspeed people do something to the file which my TV doesn't like. Or possibly is there a reliable video file converter out there which will do the job for me.

are they downloaded as MKV files ? MKV is a carrier for the avi and it may be that your tv cannot read a file within that .can your tv actually read a an avi file ?

just did a bit of googleing and there is no way play a avi file on your tv ,i would suggest converting it to a video file

maxspeed is just a torrent site members upload the torrents to them they dont make the file

correct ,i'm not sure but i don't think a avi file will look very good on a big tv anyway .One word of caution though if you use a simple free converter the finished product will be poor and blocky ,i would suggest using a good quality converter like nero ,although xilisoft isn't too bad

have you got an xbox 360 by any chance

1. MPEG 1 format at a resolution of 320x240 or 640x480
2. MP4 (AVC/H.264) at a resolution of 640X480 at 30fps 3Mbps .mp4
3. DivX (DivX Home Theater 3.0 (720X576)) file extension .avi

Seems these are the video formats you can play. Take note of the resolutions limit. Also be aware that usb sticks have to fat32 so have a 4GB limit on file size.

Mpeg1 is pretty much a dead format these days. MP4/AVC is relatively rare. It is usually encountered wrapped in an mkv container which you apparently cannot play.

You can probably convert incompatable MPEG4 (AVI) to a compatable format using AviRecomp.

WinFF converts most formats to compatable avi
