Well, the engineer connected the Superhub and everything is working nicely. He even put plastic covers on his shoes - I was impressed!

lol superhubs looks awsome. but as an employee im goin to wait so that if there are any bugs then they can get fixed first lol the issues we had with the 20mb hubs OMG issues galoreeeeeee. still waiting for the firmware upgrade

but hopefully these hubs should be a pretty neat pieca kit

At least your installation went well. For the second time, we ordered 50mb upgrade for today, 1-6. Called at 7, to see why they didn't turn up, and apparently no installation was scheduled because we didn't like the price.

Guy on the phone was more than eager to setup a new installation, as long as they got to charge Â£60 installation and activation.

Is there any way to get an upgrade online?

I asked the engineer how reliable Superhubs were but, of course, he didn't know since they are so new. Yes, it does look awesome, the best looking modem we've had so far. We've always been very lucky with the broadband connection, always getting the speeds we were supposed to, and we haven't had many outages. Only lately things got worse during peak times (after school and weekends) but I am hoping that this now will not be a problem.

Mine keeps rebooting while surfing on iphone, torrents make it grind to a halt nless you disable ip flooding from firewall, its got its bugs but its much better than the d2 hub, but not as good as the d-link IMO

I am really sorry to hear you are having such problems. I think you can upgrade your package online but you still have to have an engineer to come out and set the connection up. I was told that installation was free and I only had to pay the Â£20 activation fee.

The engineer was also supposed to come between 1 and 6, but he called at 8 am to ask if he could come in the morning instead. I said 10 am would be fine, so he turned up at 9! But that was OK and he was done within 25 minutes. Phone calls took longer than checking the line and connecting the hub. For the activation, he got through to India and it took a while to explain that he was not the customer... Twice I had to deal with the support in India this week (for TV and BB) and on both occasions I was given wrong information. I got a Â£10 credit for a TV fault I later found out that I didn't have, so I guess I got paid for my troubles, but I still.

I do hope you will get your upgrade very soon, it's lovely to have a faster connection.

=D Good to hear! I finally got through to an english person (yeah, at 7:45pm!) and apparently my installation was cancelled the same second it was ordered, which should have sent alarm bells ringing...

Apology received, free installation and reordered (for the 3rd time) for Wednesday. Not too happy, but as long as its before the new year, I wont be screaming!

Two bugs so far in my Superhub.

E9 won't log in to change the settings. Mind you, IE9 won't log on to the VM activation server either unless you add it to the compatibility mode, despite the fact it doesn't show the normal broken page icon. IE9 is in beta, but it is close to completion so this bug may continue. I recomend you stick a copy of the portable version of the browser QtWeb in a folder somewhere as this can emulate other browsers such as Firefox in a compact form for just changing your router settings if you don't want to install a second full browser for the purpose.

The SPI firewall reacts to a UDP flood from the lan side, and on my system (Win7HPx64) with Homegroup including libraries and media shared it locks down immediately reducing everything to a crawl. Turning it off is easy with QtWeb (though slow until you've hit apply) but it shouldn't be that sensitive. The old WGR614v9 with Netgear's latest firmware works fine, and that has SPI, but I don't think it reacts to lan-side traffic. Either the Superhub's SPI needs to be way less sensitive or it needs to be wan-side only.

Those couple of work-arounds aside, it's all very good indeed. Or it would be if I'd been given the 5ghz dongle instead of the old D-Link 2.4ghz one. I'm told a replacement will be with me in a few days though.

IE9 has issues at the moment. 5Ghz usb adapters are only now hitting the field - have been testing one for last few weeks with no issue.

Ive not been given the new dongles yet but I don't think many will use the 5ghz due to iPhones etc that can only handle 2.4ghz

There's plenty of good 2.4/5Ghz dongles on Ebay for Â£15 or less and from "proper" retailers for about Â£20. But yeah, to maintain compatibility with "iPhones etc" you'd need a simultaneous dualband AP or two APs

Yea, but I still have my Netgear WGR614v9 here which I upgraded to the Netgear firmware, so I can run it as a 2.4ghz wireless access point to the Superhub giving me the best of both worlds. Not that I have an I-Phone, but I do have a wireless printer/scanner that will need 2.4ghz.

Perhaps IE9 is the problem rather than the router, but it seems very stable for everything else. Still, we'll see in a couple of months time.

The biggest flaw is the firewall thing. No Denial of Service protection is possible atm until it is fixed. I hope VM are going to keep up with the firmware updates with this router as we cannot do it ourselves which is the biggest risk with the Superhub. Since VM impressed me with the speed of the upstream upgrade though, I'm betting on VM to up their game with the firmware updates this time (unlike with the WGR614v9 which never got a VM update though it badly needed it, leaving me to hotwire a standard firmware into it). Go VM! You can do it!

The Super Hub has already had two firmware updates pre-launch with another scheduled for the new year, so definitely they are "on the ball" in terms of support for this CPE - little wonder seeing as it will become the primary CPE on all tiers of service over the coming months.

I consider that comment quite hilarious bearing in mind the amount of feedback VM had regarding users wanting to use their own routers, some of whom shelled out some serious money.

The firmware upgrade for that is "in development" and will be released sometime next year.

A very good example of a company being "on the ball"!

Perhaps the 2 firmware releases already made were due to a complete failure of "real world" testing and are a matter of quick fixes.
