indeed and V+HD will continue for now, so if you have it it's still supported.
Do you really think that VM will continue to fully support the older boxes, by that I mean thinks like improvements to the current epg, sort out the audio sync issues with the HD channels.

IMO the curennt line of box's will be left as they are apart from replacing defective units.

Most of the features of the Tivo are available from Net TV’s, blue ray players, PS3, media boxes, xbox and Iphone etc for free. So what are we paying for?
Your not comparing like for like though with cars and tv though. If you are tech savvy then you can do all of the above you mention across a variety of different platforms. The real benefit here though is to those people who quite clearly aren't tech savvy. It's a unified platform of content.

Being a long time lurker and infrequent poster, I don't get the attitude of some that whenever virgin offer something new it should always be free I have used both Sky HD and V+ HD and I can say 100% that the user experience of using V+ HD is much much better than Skys clunky non responsive HD menu system.

What virgin are offering is content and a user experience with the new TiVO service. If they are paying to develop this platform then why should it be free. You do realise that they have had to pay to develop this platform right

They will be supported until VM decides to decommission them. VM will eventually start to move customers over to TiVo boxes over the next few years.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010) Vol. IV

i must admit im shocked at the RUMOURED price of TiVo especially for existing customers who currently have a Xl TV bundle.
sure its a permium service but its no more a premium than what the V+ is now and its very annoying that the V+ box is end of life where the normal V box by cisco which is a bare essential (non premium) box is capable of having the the TiVo interface installed. this means that its TiVo for minimum and premium subcribers and the ones that spent the extra for a V+ box get a screw you or cough up.

i have Xl tv with V+, L phone and LBB with a 2nd standard box subcription and am no why going to fork out £199 for a TiVo box anytime in the near future eapecially with money being tight (economic downturn and all that).
it may be worth upgrading to a triple XL pack to get it but i shall see how i feel after Christmas is out of the way.

The price for existing customers or customers taking a bundle has not been announced yet.

**Stop Press**

VM's bosses have just told New York analysts that they'll keep the 1tb tivo box at £199 upfront charge while there is strong demand but they will scale back massively the price as demand decreases.

So if you want tivo, WAIT for the prices to drop!

Why don't you start your own one? I'm sure it'd be pretty popular as many members have raised similar issues to yours recently.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010) Vol. IV

....yes, it's from vm's presentation to New York analysts. This is available via VM's web site on the investor part. You'll be asked to register to access the webcast, just make up any details you like. The exact quote comes towards the end of the webcast. Best to start with the analyst question for context which is at 9 minutes 45 seconds into the Q&A session. Here's a link:

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010) Vol. IV

I've signed up and if it means just upgrading to XL BB to get the triple and the rest comes free as per MB's info I'll go with that but otherwise I'll wait till the price drops.
