Logitech Harmony

Which (if any) remote(s) can output the same command to two devices at the same time?

You could get a Harmony One to do that - though would have to be one after the other as I don't think it can truly run parallel tasks, but to all intents and purposes it woudl appear to be doing both at the same time.

My Harmony 1000 is et to turn on 3 devices which it appears to do at the same time.
Whether it physical does or not doesn't bother me as its so fast it appears to operate as such

Been thinking about getting a harmony for ages. Was stuck between the One and 1000. I know the 1100 is out now but I am still tempted just to try and get a cheap 1000 off eBay now.

I got a Harmony 300i the other day and it controls up to 4 devices. It controls my TV, STB and DVD player fine. I've not got a V+ box though, but I bet it would work it I did. Good remotes.

The Harmony 1100 has a slightly different look (black instead of silver) and has the ability to operate wii's,ps3 etc etc.
The 1000 can do this but to operate the games console it requires an add on box which is readily available. i believe this is something to do with sending out an RF aswell as infrared signals.

To operate the PS3 all the remotes need an add on to convert IR to Bluetooth.

I can get the 1000 a lot cheaper than the 1100 and it doesn't seem that much different, aside from the colour and slightly newer firmware.

I just received my Harmony One yesterday and am still getting to grips with it. If you use Logitech software and connect to their site the V+ box (Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300 ) is compatible and the commands are in the database so just add it as a device.One problem with archiving recordings is that my Panasonic DVD recorder does not display the graphics from the V+ just the picture so I thought the Harmony was not working when I pressed the V+ button!! It is a steep learning curve but persevere and everything will work

Get the Harmony One it's great- there are two prices on Amazon though one thru Amazon and one through a seller but they are identical items just named slightly differently

How are you finding the Harmony One's lack of physical colour buttons? Is it a pain getting to Red, Green, Yellow, Blue on the screen?

That's my only reservation at the moment with the One, I'm thinking of going for the 900 from the 525.

I thought it would be a issue but I find it fine. Plus I have mapped red and green to the extra up and down key just below the LCD screen. Works very well in the menus where up have to page up and down.

Have done the same thing on my Harmony One, amazingly useful, otherwise it would be a bit of a pain using them solely on the touch screen.

It is a little early for the colour buttons to annoy me yet.I'll come to it eventually I guess.

If you setup the up/down rocker button the way zantarous mentions that time will never come.

At the moment I am just happy to be free of the 11 remote controls I was using before. The one you want is never under your hands and just having one which needs to be in the same place all the time i.e. charger, makes life so much easier. I am finding I have to tweak every now and again and update but I am getting there. The Harmony One, though expensive, may be my best ever purchase. I bought a Philips pronto from a friend a couple of years ago and got it working but it was like studying for a degree!!! I was spending more time fiddling with that than using it to control my system!

I have recently bought a Harmony One and I am very impressed as it worked with all my kit.

In terms of pros (and they are often very simple)
1. Lights up when I pick it up.
2. Supports time sllip on my DVD/HDD recorder to skip adverts.
3. Is incredibly light in the hand.
4. Can learn from other remotes.
5. Supports commands that operate differently when the keys are held down.

Cons (and they are minor)

1. Cannot use alias keys from other devices (unless anyone wants to tell me otherwise).
2. Is quite expensive (although it is a gadget).
3. Activities can be awkward especially when a device only supports power toggle as opposed to seperarate on/off commands.

I am a past user of a Phillips Pronto U980 that I use as a mega database of all remotes I have ever used and used it to program the odd key to the Harmony.

I loved the Pronto's ability to allow programming of any touch key to do anything.

I believe this is a back end software issue and await its implementation on the Harmony One.

Otherwise a damn fine product.
