Re: Kinect (Project Natal) Xbox 360 - No Strings (or Controllers) Attached

I wasn't too convinced by kinect up till now. Yes it sounded great but would it actually deliver?

Well the Kinect tour was in Glasgow on Sunday there and I got a shot of Bowling, which is part of the sports game. I have to admit I was very impressed by it.

All my movements were captured and acted out by the on screen character and I was able to perfom spin and all sorts in the game by twisting my wrist and shoulder.

Very likely to pick this up at christmas now.

Gamestation Swindon are confident my 250 GB S and Kinect bundle will be available for midnight launch.

Don't TheHut also deal with Tesco Direct's gaming distribution too?

PSA: Xbox 360 S Kinect bundle doesn't come with Kinect AC adapter | Joystiq

The reason I went for the S was two fold: one, my DVD drive was playing up on my Pro and two, the dedicated Kinect port; I didn't want to plug Kinect into the front of my console, I'm already using the extra port you gain from having the HD DVD drive connected, or use another mains power socket. It's still cheeky on MS' part not to include all the cables though.

With the s console you don't need a separate ac adaptor as the s console has the dedicated kinect port, that powers it.

Re: Kinect (Project Natal) Xbox 360 - No Strings (or Controllers) Attached

Indeed. There's absolutely no need to include it. The whole point of the Kinect port on the "S" is so that you only need the one cable.

EDIT:

I've just read that story at Joystiq. What a pointless piece of "news". Why on Earth would MS include the AC adaptor with Kinects that come bundled with an "S"?

If someone has purchased a Kinect & 360 "S" bundle, what use would the AC adaptor be to them?

I know. The dedicated port is part of the reason for me buying the S bundle, but for £300 they should have included it because if I wanted to move Kinect to use it with my old 360, I can't due to the lack of a mains power cable.

Re: Kinect (Project Natal) Xbox 360 - No Strings (or Controllers) Attached

But you have a new console and kinect, why would you need to move it to your old system. Just move the console, its not that heavy.

There is simply no need at all for Microsoft to include a power adapter.

But you bought a bundle, consisting of a nice new 360 S along with a Kinect. It doesn't need it.

The majority of people buying a bundle consisting of a 360 S & a Kinect will surely be people who do not currently have a 360: Single-unit owners will be greater than multiple-unit owners, and most who already have a 360 will buy a Kinect on its own.

Why should Microsoft include a totally unnecessary cable in the 360 S + Kinect bundle, just to satisfy a small number of people who have bought the bundle while also owning an old-style 360 that they may also want to connect the Kinect to?
