smart hosts

Hi chaps,

I've always been able to send smtp from my Exchange server using my ISP's smart host but now I've moved to VM I'm a bit snookered. I have an @virginmedia.com email addres and understand the smtp server is smtp.virginmedia.com using port 465/SSL but I cannot route anything through that server. I've changed the send connector to port 465 and enabled authentication but nothing sends. Weirdly though I can telnet to it on 465 from the edge server. I'm wondering if I might have to renew my self signed cert on the edge server as they expire 12 months after creation.

My gut feeling is that smtp.virginmedia.com is simply not a smart host!!!

Guess I could always use another smart host... Any recommendations?
