Moving cable box from one room to another

We have recently done up our spare bedroom and the wife wants to move out bedroom into that now. So my little job is to move the cable.

Can anyone tell me how much it cost to have VM do it, from previous threads I seem to recall it being quite expensive.

Alternatively I only need to extend the cable by about 7 or 8 meters, can I just get a cable and adapter screw it onto the existing cable and extend it?

It's £99 to get virgin to extend the cable. At that price it's worth a go doing it yourself, make sure connections are tight

Does the barrel contain Brandy?????

Or do you mean rg6 cable terminated with a male F plug on each end and then a F female to female connector

This is not recommended but you could always try this from Ebay.

Re: Moving cable box from one room to another

The caveat that should be issued here is that cable service can be quite sensitive to changes in signal levels, and signal levels change with length of cable.

The longer your extension, the more likely it is to result in your box not working. You should therefore use the shortest possible cable run to achieve your extension (and if you buy that cable off ebay don't blame the seller if it doesn't work!).
